Rude?

Belching during a meal is rude.

What pelosi did is an attempt to further divide the country.

Calculated and evil.
She's WAY beyond rude. She's repulsive and "living" proof that we need term limits.

That's what the Dems have been doing since Trump was elected.

It was a very good state of the union speech. I think by far his best of the 3.

Good? he did nothing but tell lies and blow sunshine.

But if you mean good like he didn't act too much the fool....well, maybe.
At least he stood up straight this time.

Stop assuming stuff, no, they were black airmen that fought in WWII. Now if you're doing it just to be cute, well ok, but it isn't that clever.

You're being tedious. I said it was a good speech which it was. I was not commenting on the integrity of the speech. Pick up your game, it's lagging.

Buffalo soldiers of the 20th century.
Good enough to fight, but not good enough to mix ranks.

Not a great chapter for us.

Yet some say America was great in those days....

low standards make manure into fertilizer...

I don't condone Pelosi's behavior, but Trump ignored her when she offered her hand at the beginning...I also don't condone walking out in the middle of the speech, as some Dems did...what's gonna happen at the next SOTU...some yahoo jumping up to interrupt the speech and angrily yelling out at the POTUS???

So Trump blows off a handshake while giving Pelosi the stinkeye as he hands her a copy of the speech (guess he's human - she did have him impeached, after all), and then he spewed a litany of lies, half truths and misinformation sprinkled into a few actual facts, all to disparage the accomplishments of the previous Dem WH, confident that his supporters won't be interested in the real truth... Trump panders to African-Americans, in campaign mode, by singling out a few black citizens...then gives stuff away...including handing the nation's highest civilian honor to a man whose racist rhetoric has made him reviled by the very people Trump was pandering to...talk about a reality TV show...thanks Trump

what's next, members of the audience throwing shoes at the POTUS?

Good speeches are about content and integrity, not delivery.

No, not a good speech.

delivery?

he looked like he was mad as hell during much of his speech when he spoke to the right side of the room and had a permanent smirk on his face while he spoke mostly to the left side of the room...

good for him, though, for being able to talk for an hour and fifteen minutes without many stumbles and slurs...speechwriters knew better than to include the words "origin," "impeachment," "anonymous," "tolerant" et al...

the real loser is the person who holds the office of POTUS, who has been impeached and acquitted...

when history books are written, POTUS get top billing...and it is not a badge of honor to be included in the chapter for those impeached and acquitted...every time Clinton's name comes up -- he's referred to as one of three impeached....every time Nixon's name comes up, one of three impeached and resigned rather than stand trial...

American justice...indeed...

Trump being impeached and acquitted is the most wonderful thing that could happen. This contemptible tunnel vision congress with their complete inability to control their hatred and do anything for the American people will once again attempt to impeach my beloved president and they will hand over the house to Republicans and ensure the senate shall keep its majority.

To summarize: Yes. I think it's pretty goddamned good that Trump was impeached and acquitted. Bring on the next impeachment you nutjobs.

50 years from now, you and I and all the people who supported or opposed the POTUS, won't matter...the history books just measure the man and his accomplishments and whether he elevated the stature of his office...

Richard Nixon was well on his way to being a very good, if not great, POTUS...he was bringing the unpopular unwinnable VietNam war to a close, ended a vastly unpopular compulsory military service/draft, opened relations with China, established relations with the USSR and helped to produce a nuclear arms limitation deal, SALT I, laid the groundwork for Egypt and Israeli peace talks, enacted landmark environmental regulations...pretty impressive list of accomplishments...

but he disgraced the office by trying to rig an election, and resigned under bipartisan pressure...his legacy is of a POTUS who was impeached, and resigned rather than face trial in the Senate...

I would hope that Dems would also help to remove a POTUS from their own party who engaged in similar misconduct

Then Trump will be remembered as the President when unemployment was at all time lows and, that this President led the fight to deport criminals. Yes, regardless how the left wants to candy coat it when an alien enters our nation without following Immigration laws they are criminals. He’ll be remembered for may good things. Yet, he will also be remembered as a President who behaved at a level well below that which is expected by the holder of that office.

BTW, the latest Gallup poll shows he has a 49% approval rating. It that trend continues he’ll also be remembered as a person who was twice elected to that position.

yea...that is the highest approval rating he has enjoyed...and if he can maintain that level, he'll prolly be re-elected...

Dems seem to be flailing and I don't think anti-Trump sentiment will be enough to cause a historic turn out, which will be needed to counter Trump's base...seems Trump is winning over a number of independents...

Wow, I was beginning to think I was the only one who watched the state of the union. There are people on this forum who keep claiming they watched the state of the union but then they say Trump told nothing but lies. But hey, they will call you a liar and while we will not get to be on Bill Maher's show like Nancy Pelosi I will say Trump was acquited *Pelosi fist bump* and once you are acquitted, you are acquitted forever. *mimicks adjusting dentures while trying to laugh with mouth closed*

coulda sworn there was a lot of deportations during the Obama Administration...possibly record setting?
It wasn't touted here though...wasn't a big issue then I guess.

I imagine it is not racist when someone of darker skin deports people of color in lighter shades? Though I have been told Obama himself is pretty light-skinned with... excellent speaking skills so that kind of puts him lower on the privilege point system? I have no idea how these radical liberal terrorists think.

Maybe it's OK when same deports same on the shade scale?

well, deporting record numbers is different than denying entrance to all.

one allows for the continued growth and improvement of our way of life, the other stokes the irrational fears of hatred and xenophobia.

Throwing out the baby with the bath water comes to mind.

What I don't understand is why everything Trump does automatically comes from a xenophobic place? I do not have to tell you how much I love Trump (you're probably sick of hearing it at this point) but I also support legal immigration.

My boss is from Canada and paid for the cruise we are going on next week. He will be legally migrating here soon. He had no issues getting a work visa. Among my white ass who is employed by this future immigrant is our billing manager who is a legal immigrant from Panama. I dare say I love them both. They sure as hell are funny as hell and share my sick sense of humor in most cases. (We may have perverted our billing manager but when she slaps us in the back of our heads we know we deserved it.)

So no, I do not support illegal immigration and if that means throwing out the baby with the bathwater I am glad my president, the country that borders us and the country that borders them are taking steps to minimize how many babies travel through all of our countries illegally before they can find some mosquito-ridden pool of water to bath said babies along the way.

But I guess that makes me a racist. God I love being a racist with my racist co-workers in various states of legal immigration or resident status.

Just finished watching the speech.

Wow.

Made me miss Reagan and his gift at any podium.

Seeing the Dems meanmug the camera and sit on their asses was a sight to behold. Can some intern PLEASE get crazy Nancy some polygrip? I kept secretly hoping for the uppers to pop out of her mouth like they did before. The Dems can't even run a decent candidate. They have nothing but TDS to run on. They can't even count votes!

Between this speech, his rally's and the accomplishments with half his party behind him...I'm liking him more and more.

not exactly what I was going for...

Neither you nor I could truly know what Trump really feels and thinks about this, but I suspect that he intentionally taps into a voting bloc that is xenophobic (and other unloved and unwashed blocs as well)...I know you understand that does not mean that I feel all of his supporters subscribe to that ugly philosophy, but his ability to market and excite that vertical market of buyers to action translates to votes from those that used to stay in Mom's basement, seething at their detachment. And if his forecasters are accurate, those folks tend to reside in specific areas of electoral votes, blah blah blah.

Consider that Obama mobilized minorities whom had historically passed on voting, and rode that wave to victory. Hillary assumed she'd inherit that crowd and didn't even get my vote! Taking folks for granted is poor marketing.

Trump found a different unmined vein of non voters and stirred them into the polling places. Is he racist? Is he xenophobic? Is he a nazi sympathizer? A white supremacist? I dunno. But if they think they can see a shaft of light through a crack in Mom's bulkhead, they will go to the light and vote...and really Anthony, why should he care about the resume or pedigree of the voters who cast votes for him?

For almost 18 months there was Ryan dragging his feet and the rest of the swamp monsters pouting. So, that's not 80%...I dont even believe he now has more that 50%! He's doing ALL the heavy lifting. He found a party would back him because I believe he's held true to what he said he was going to do. He's outmaneuvered the best the DNC can toss at him and made them look stupid chasing their tails.

2018 was 2018. It's in the past.
