My Sicilian work-wife made eye-talian sausages and homemade meatballs.

Yes, heart palpitations now. Well worth it.

Management said I could not come in tonight. I tried to see if I could work another unit for double time and a half, they said they had a need but would not let me come in after 9 in a row.

I did 13 in a row in August, 10 in a row in October and 11 in a row in December, dunno why they capped me at 9 this week. Another nutty nurse that works excessive hours got capped at 8 too. Hell, in 2012 I did 19 12hr shifts in a row.

They said one day off and can pick up starting the next day.

As long as they're paying double time, I'm gonna take every hour I can get. I've been there 11 years now and this is the first time they've ever had double time. Occasionally they'll throw out a $100 bonus to pickup a 12hr shift over the years but never double time.

Yum, just had a maple bacon donut for breakfast. This bakery hooks it up. 3 pieces of bacon on a maple long John. Back to pulling cable at work. Pulled about 6000ft yesterday. Gonna be doing the same again today.

Father in law is in the hospital with pneumonia...

I'm a little frustrated with him... He gets sick and hides it from everyone...

I don't know if he's being stupid or if his brain is so childlike he actually thinks he will just get better on his own...

He has been hospitalized numerous times a year for several years now because he has a heart condition, he's diabetic, he's overweight, he doesn't exercise, and he doesn't eat right....

So every little sickness he gets pretty much can end his life if he doesn't go to the hospital...

And yet, every time he gets sick, it's a middle of the night ambulance trip to the hospital because he waits until he can't breathe anymore to get help...

So incredibly frustrating to watch him put his family through this time and time again...

Cleaning the basement. Its been a few years...

Paperwork from when I bought wife's car still sitting on my desk. Didn't realize I was paying 8% interest.

Online application and a phone call, got that refinanced to 4%.

Already hauled out one garbage can full of stuff. Think there's gonna be several. I'm in a purging mood.

Last time I heard those words spoken aloud me and my little brother didn't go home for a week. Needed to make sure my mom had gotten it out of her system.

I did, but not that kind of purge.

Woke up early, peeled and shredded 4 medium taters. Fried them in crisco with some onions and bell peppers. Topped that off with cheese, chorizo, and 4 poached eggs. Wife had a small scoop, I ate the rest.

Am I the only one who likes snow? Winter is my favorite time of year! Of course, I don't have to shovel. My shovels name is Jacob. Now Jacob HATES snow but, that's his problem. My other shovel wised up and moved out. I also love nasty thunder storms. The wilder the better. I sleep like a baby during crazy thunder storms.

I grew up in RI. Winter was not a favorite.

Left at 17, never went back. Been living in more temperate climates since... and I like it.

Snowing here again. Pretty hard.... half-inch buildup over the past hour.

And it'll continue until this evening, when temps will drop to about 15F.

Gonna be a mess tomorrow

Wife hasn't reminded me of my laziness yet today.

I'm sure as soon as I sit on the couch and turn on the xbox I'll hear it.

Just took a load of cardboard and wood stuff out to the burn pit and lit it. Chickens fed n watered. Need to clean the coop but can't get the tractor out with the snow. It's above freezing so it's a snow/mud mix I'd just get stuck.

I hate shoveling snow though.

Problem with the cold is it gets balls-cold in the warehouse.
Hell the office barely is maintaining 65.

And I've got to spend time in the warehouse today testing out some configurations.

Goddammit.

Grew up in Wisconsin, but one of my coldest memories ever is standing POOW on the fantail of a frigate at the end of Pier 2 in Narragansett Bay in February. That was before they put shacks and heaters on the quarterdecks.

Yep. When an ocean bay freezes so solid you can drive a truck on it... that's pretty damn cold.

I don't get cold. Ever. I've never owned a winter coat. I'm the palest Irishman you'll ever meet. I was built for cold. I sleep with a window open all year round and a fan blowing on me. My wife sleeps under 5 comforters and flannel pj's. That's what she gets for being from a desert people.... I don't think the Jews were lost for 40 years.... they were just enjoying the weather.

No. I love snow when I'm off.

But when I have to drive 20 miles to work and home in it, not so much. And we're not getting "good" snow. Good snow being skiing, sledding, snowshoeing snow. We're getting that rain, freezing rain, sleet, ice snow that just makes the roads basically bobsled runs. That I'm not so fond of.

I've got the biggest home model Toro 2 stage self-propelled snowblower they make for the home market. So that's not an issue.

I also have world class foul weather gear from Wiggy's Inc. in Colorado. Best cold weather gear and sleeping bags in the world. Made in America, and honestly it is the best insulators money can buy. So I'm warm and dry regardless.

But there are too many idiots out there that think they're invulnerable in their trucks. News Flash? 4wd doesn't help on ice. And just because you can go, doesn't mean you can stop. DOH! d'oh!

Lookout on USS Texas (CGN-39) when we crossed the Arctic Circle. It was so freaking cold we were only allowed a 10 minute shift on the bridge wings. Then we swapped with the other guy inside. Repeat. When we came in we had a solid layer of ice down the front of our foul weather gear.

Honestly, that Blue Nose certificate wasn't worth it. Frying pan

Snow tires man...

I haven't bought a set for my truck, as my ATs do well enough.

But I keep a set for the wife's car, swap em out in the winter. They make a world of difference.

had something like that when I visited Portland, Oregon last year...place call NOLA's (short for New Orleans, LA?)...best donut I've ever had, but about $5.50/each....can get a dozen assorted pretty good donuts for that price at Baker's Dozen Donuts here in Corona...

But if she survives, you have to hear stories that make your head explode, such as the wife in a car with ABS telling me she couldn't stop so had no choice but to pull the emergency brake d'oh!

it is an amazing experience sitting in a 4,000 pound metal container when it loses traction and goes spinning and sliding in dizzying directions and all you can do is sit back and watch the world go by in slow motion, wondering if you're gonna hit something or something is gonna hit you...hoping it won't hurt physically and/or financially....

why does time seem to slow down when calamity is about to smack you?
