Morning gents

Sitting at the Chevrolet dealership brought the duramax up here. Front end sensors are acting crazy I had a ranch hand brush guard put on it about 2 months ago been working fine until now.Took it to the dealership in my home town they told me it was the brush guard. I asked how it worked fine for 2 months with no issues .

-2 here. But sunny so there's that. Went out and turned the heater on in the sun room for my pre-work stogie. Another day on the right side of the frozen tundra.

Mornin' gents.

High of 35, MAYBE, currently 22 with a wind chill of 12 F! That adds extra misery to my normal 24/7 pains!! By this time tomorrow, it will be warmer than all day and night today. West TN weather is really CRAZY during the winter months. We regularly have 30-40 degree temp shifts in a 24 hr. and even a 12 hr. stretch.

Yessir, I'm only an hour from the Bootheel of MO. Our standard winds from the Northwest tend to come from the Arkansas and MO area. We're considered the "Mid South" I call it the Dirty South!

We will get those nasty ice storms in small areas some years and that shuts down the rural areas!! OR, we may have a Killing Tornado in January!! I lost a good friend to one back in then 90's. RIP Terry. He and I had some great times on travel and golfing trips. He got his wife and one grown so that had his girlfriend over and they barely made it to the bathroom, then it caught the place and churned it up so badly that his wife was still in the hospital and couldn't even attend his funeral. They added seven large (near 1000 lb spheres) in a downtown park area in memory of the seven lost in Jackson, TN and a few years later, another tornado hit and blew one of those giant stones from it's cupped perch!!! I said, "Well, that one's Terry, for sure. He was always a rolling stone!", hehe.

I don't prefer it, but got my roots planted here. I'd like to move to TN/GA border area but wife won't leave. San Diego area would be nice too, but I couldn't live in CA.

I couldn't deal with 115° sustained like you get in the summer either.

Been in the kitchen for 3 hours making dinner. Surprisingly the wife aint complained yet.

Made habanero pico: 2 roma tomatoes, half a bunch of cilantro, garlic, red onion, dozen habaneros, two limes, salt.

Trying to make carnitas in the instant pot. Never done it, usually use the cast iron dutch oven on the stove but giving this a shot. Sposeda be done in about an hour and a half. Gonna shred and put in the oven with the broiler on to crisp em up a bit.

Meijers had country ribs on clearance for a buck a pound so I'm using that. Chunked, salt n peppered, then pan seared em. Put em in the pot with some chicken stock, Tajin seasoning, cumin, several garlic cloves minced, lime juice, orange juice, and half a white onion.

Boy gets outta school at 230ish, gonna pick him up and head to the RV show then. Probably stop somewhere for dinner and save the carnitas and pico for tomorrow.

We had a tornado warning in columbia 1x last year. I was in china at the time, so I couldn't do a damn thing. The wife didn't know what to do in the event of a tornado so she sat in the living room with the dogs.... you know, right next to the huge 8' windows....

Carnitas were had for lunch instead of dinner.

Turned out really good.

Had to put in the oven under the broiler to get the burnt edges. 3 rounds at 8 minutes a piece, stir and repeat.

Pico was perfect as usual, and made a great topping.

Back to the airport. Yay! There's a smoking lounge. Boo! There's no cigars allowed in said lounge. This is discrimination dammit. Not allowed to express my love of higher quality tobacco. Not allowed to worship in the practice of the Church of Corojo. My rights are being infringed! Alert the media! Is this not 'Murica?

Actually, it was in the 60s in the morning for a couple of days and didn't hit 70 till late morning / early afternoon. I'm pretty sure the humidity and winds also make for a different feel.

For me, it's hard to leave to leave the Islands and live somewhere else since I absolutely hate cold weather. Oh, and dry skin - even with lip balm and moisturizer. I know fo' sure I could never live on the East Coast or Midwest and put up with the snow for months at a time.

Wrecked wife's car today picking up the boy from school.

Looking for parking space, go to turn left into a space and a jackhole passes me on the left while I turn in. Er, tried to but my car got in the way.

Rear drivers door wont open, drivers door is hard to latch, trunk wont open. Rockers smashed, both doors crumpled, bent B pillar, rear quarter is pushed in to the inside edge of the tire. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a write off.

Chassis is still good tho. Drove 150 mile round trip to the big RV show. Still cant find the right one without getting into the 36-40ft range. I prefer 32 or less.

It was just wife and me in the car, he hit rear tire and B pillar right at the back of my seat. Pretty good hit, but no human damage.

They line cars up single file along the side of the building and let the car rider kids out. I saw my boy get on the bus in front of us. Great... Well then, he gets off the bus and someone directs him back into the buildling. Then the person directing traffic tells us he got sent to the office, park over there pointing to a spot. So our single file starts heading forward. I'm doing maybe 5mph, holding up the line a bit I'm sure but just looking for a spot. Find a spot and this guy from a few cars back had jumped out of line to pass everyone and deadass slams into me.

I hope it's on his insurance. Cop just said "no citations, report will be ready for pickup by Tuesday" and sent us both away. Paycheck today was over a grand heavier than usual from all the overtime I put in. Looks like that's going to the deductible... F me.

^If you're not at fault, do not pay your deductible. Not sure what your rules are, but awhile back my insurance tried to make me pay mine when a vehicle hit me from behind and took off.

Nope. They told me I had to pay it, at first, then when I said I'd be retaining a lawyer and they could talk to him about it... they called me back 15 minutes later. No deductible, no fault, no increase in my insurance.
