There's a great little story from that movie. There's a scene where a car drives by Malkovich and the passenger screams his name and hits him with an empty beer can. Apparently the extra's in the car, who were NOT supposed to do that, snuck beer onto the set and got a little wasted and just did that for giggles. The director loved it so much they had to go and get the extra his SAG card so they could keep it in the movie. The guy went from silent extra to getting his SAG card and getting paid(the bare minimum $700) for a speaking part for the day. Mr. Malkovich's reaction in the movie is genuine shock as he screams.

good friend of mine does a lot of work as an extra around here.
In the Boston themed Hyundai self-parking car commercial that debuted during the Super Bowl, he was not seen but was the driver of the Honda that couldn't get in the parking space and drove away.
paid $1,700, and could break 5 figures if it lasts long enough.

I wouldn’t have paid anything to be in that commercial

according to the local paper, the first car knocked him down, and into the path of the second car ...injuries from being run over by this second car are what killed him
