Report everything possible that is negative of Trump while giving Democrats a free pass?

In May 2018, U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell (representing California’s 15th Congressional district) wrote an opinion column for USA Today, calling for a ban on “military-style semi-automatic assault weapons” and proposing that the federal government buy such guns from their owners while criminal prosecuting those who refused to hand over their weapons:”We should ban possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons, we should buy back such weapons from all who choose to abide by the law, and we should criminally prosecute any who choose to defy it by keeping their weapons. The ban would not apply to law enforcement agencies or shooting clubs.”

So basically @RepSwalwell wants a war. Because that’s what you would get. You’re outta your **** mind if you think I’ll give up my rights and give the gov all the power. https://t.co/bK1GVyjFej

And it would be a short war my friend. The government has nukes. Too many of them. But they’re legit. I’m sure if we talked we could find common ground to protect our families and communities.

This is old, but I don’t recall this being covered.

At least they covered this

The first person to cross Antarctica alone and unaided says he pooped his pants less than halfway through - and had to continue using the same underwear for 38 days

now, see, that I missed.
But I didn't trash the freedom of the press for choosing to not cover it in the sources I freely choose to indoctrinate me.

Anth, you know I'm teasing but it's based on belief differences. But you could have just started a 500 with your opener and let every con post a story they found but didn't see (or recall seeing).

remember Remember The Maine?

just out of curiosity, I thought that item would've made a bigger splash, so I googled "swalwell calls for assault weapon buy back" and the following mainstream media sources covering this story showed up on the first page of google hits:

NY Times
ABC News TV
CNN
NBC News
MSNBC
ABC News
Newsweek
USA Today

Fox News had it too, but I know you don't include them in "mainstream"

As is ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NBC and many other “news” outlets.

I think Anthony is correct. There are lots of similar incidents in the past. The Alamo last stand received no coverage. Concord Hill only received local coverage. Alister Crowley was totally misconstrued. Of course we know the real reason for this is the deep state. The New World Order has so much power. You just know all those crazy tweets are from a CNN bot, Trump can't be THAT stupid. Now for a nice Chianti with Favs beans.

I have a theory that in this new age of a billion ways to get information, people search for delivery systems that feed them the info that pretty much matches what they believe, with the slant they prefer...it has the built in feeling of being a trustworthy source, and this is perfectly fine, if not somewhat limiting exposure. but it's a wide open selection available to consumers now.

"the mainstream media", in my theory, is so huge in part due to the head start they had but as time and tech move quickly into the future, is also proving that the majority believes what they offer and prefers the slant they employ.

At the same time, they don't seem to have a yuuuge effect on elections. Anyone have stats on how many eligible voters actually vote? Certainly not a tremendous amount of the majority that prefers "main stream media" or only libs would be presidents, if the slant was as powerful as suggested.

Serious question, Frank; Do you not think that hollywood spouts a leftist agenda at every opportunity? Hypocritically, too, while they fly their private jets and drive their SUV's and hire their armed body guards?

And... are you, like me, there to be entertained and not politically lectured? Ricky Gervais was right... and they just couldn't take the hint.

He's still a lefty, but even he understands most people are sick of the virtue signalling from hollywood; especially at their self-congratulatory awards shows.

yes, Hollywood is mostly far left, but they are not the delivery system of left slanted news sources that cons assail as the Main Stream Media. Cons mean network television and large newspapers...I assume.

What I'm postulating is that with the myriad of news and news opinion providers available today, the influence of the old guard has been neutralized as folks like most here have unlimited access to news reporting that aligns with how they view politics and the world at large. And they are choosing to get their information from these sources as these sources are more comfortable for them. And that is OK.

Other than some really far out ugly wingnut stuff on both ends of the spectrum that could edge into the new, larger, diverse mainstream if those of us within reach of the center are not vigilant, the internet has made almost all sources "main stream" and they all affect the views, feelings, and opinions of the populace...liberal and conservative slants are now both fully accessible.
