I have a spancrete (concrete on all sides including top)enclosed closet in my home, was built to be a vault. I’ve decided to build a walk in humidor

I have tons of cigar boxes, what is stopping me from lining the walls of the humidor with all the cigar boxes? Spanish cedar and would look cool and cost would be my labor and use cigar coffin pieces on edges etc.

Good or bad ideas? Pros and cons

Great idea honestly. Several walk ins have been made out of old vaults.

Sounds fun.
Probably want to treat that concrete first, depending on how much, if any, exposure it gets to moisture.
Oh wait........if it's a vault.......I'm guessing the concrete is already treated?

When we remodeled a few years ago I just lined a standard closet,8'x6'x3',with Spanish cedar.I put in a well sealed glass exterior door with jam and made my shelves from white cedar.Easiest to maintain humidor I have ever used.

sounds cool...if the ambient RH in your house/area is low (less than 50 RH) for long stretches, make sure you put in a good humidifier and some weatherproof stripping on the door...

Sorry for the late reply... I didn’t get alerts people were posting!

What about using cigar boxes for the walls? Anyone tried it looking for someone to blow it up and tell me it won’t work.

The closet spancrete already is dry walled and framed with a door. Even has a light

If the interior of this space already has drywall on it then it is simply a closet space. It is completely irrellevant that it was once a vault or that concrete is involved. NOT being a wiseass. Sounds like fun. Adhering cigar box pieces sounds like a lot of work but might look cool. Spanish cedar is available if you know where to look and seems more practical to me. Good luck.
