Vector 14x butane - opinions?

.
Guys, I've always used Xikar silver can Purofine, and then recently switched to Xikar black-can Purofine High-Performance. I like 'em both, but the black can is better.

A friend swears by Vector 14 (I think it's called that because they claim it's 14x refined or something).

Opinions? You're a sharp bunch of cigar fellas so I figured I'd ask you all. Should I buy it, is it as good as the Xikar stuff? Thanks!

Haven't used the Vector. I've got the Xikar High Performance and Neon 11x and never had any issue with either.

I still have about a can and a half of Lava Butane. I also have a can or two of the Vector 5X refined stuff.

The 5X refined Vector is very good and what I use now that they no longer make Lava butane.

If you have $3 sh1t lighters from WalMart, too... you won't have a problem until you do... but who cares if the lighter was $3?

I have a Dupont Xtend and I will not clog it with Ronson. Yeah, I also have cheapo lighters but the better fuel keeps 'em running better for longer. YMMV

I use colibri...

Anything claiming to be "x" amount of times refined instead of giving you a percentage of purity is garbage...

You can refine dog crap a billion times, it's still dog crap...

I must have at least 5-7 different nice lighters and never had a problem.

I've used the vector14 stuff for many years.

Tried ronson and King before ordering the vector stuff and those clogged jet lighters quickly. The vector has been good.

Bought a case of Lava before they left the market. Still have a few cans so I don't have an opinion on the others.

Does butane ever go "bad"? I have a really old can in a drawer. Wondering if I should ever use it or just toss it.

Been using it for some time, never had any issues. Was originally using vector x5, before they pasted a new 14x label overtop and never had an issue then either.

Although I’ve been a Xikar only guy, they’ve been harder to find these days so when one of my nephews said he uses Master Applicance Ultratane butane and never had a problem, I bought a can. He works for Airgas so with his employee discount, got the can for around $3. Tested it on a cheapie single flame and after two refills, so far so good.

The Ultratane is “only” 3x refined but based upon the early results, may switch to this instead of the 3x more expen$ive Xikar.

Colibri is very good. It even cleaned up my sputtery lighters. Haven’t had a lighter issue in a good while. I’d spend extra for it.

One of those deals where it fixed my crappy lighters so I was impressed by it so likely won’t ever change. I’ll bet there’s other good brands but this stuff is certainly top shelf

I’ve got an Alec Bradley burner table lighter so the crappy fluid goes in it. It’ll burn anything by the nature it was built. I really like that thing
