I used to say that a lot here, mind if I quote you, or, don't quote me, but....
Might have to dust off them two.

absolutely...freedom of speech, freedom to assemble and freedom of the press are three foundational stones on which the USA is built...

that's why morons can say whatever they want, as long as their words don't violate legal standards, like shouting FIRE in a crowded theater, libel or slander, conspiracy to commit a crime, terrorist threats, threats against the POTUS, or treason...our civilized nation can enact reasonable time, place and manner guidelines to regulate those three primary freedoms, and have done so reluctantly and sparingly in our history

these are bright lines limiting free speech in specific cases...and luckily for us most know where those lines are...

what about the crime boss who speaks in code...who doesn't actually say the specific thing like "go and burn down Joey's house and kill his wife and kids". Instead, he says "I got a problem with Joey. He's been causing me problems"

It’s amazing g to me how critical some are when it’s not their guy yet so forgiving they are when it is. It’s really really odd and I think most do t recognize it in themselves.

If anyone is saying trump went to their house and made them taje fish cleaner they are idiots.

If anyone think trumps statements have absolutely nothing to do with it even when the idiots said it did they are idiots.

And the people that took it are idiots.

If they attend church on Easter, one would think their God would protect them.

I’m not going to church on Easter. I am going to prepare a nice Easter brunch. None of you are invited. Nothing personal.

I should've put your statement (paraphrasing) about morons taking themselves out into that post...that's what I was referring to when I acknowledged you were right...

and then connecting that to attending a mass gathering during a viral eruption after the Wizard of Alls tells them they should end their self isolation that day...

By the lefty crowd here they'll have you believing that he puts his fingers at the corners of both eyes and raises his lips to say "Chiree Floo" or "Me love you long time"...complete and utter nonsense from them. The President has a solid team around him that is doing their jobs quite effectively despite what the mouth breathing rage machines here rant about. Have to say the stellar reporters at CNN (which ironically called it the Chinese Coronavirus first!) and the "smart" people here that never have anything useful or positive to say are what keeps me laughing. So, who wants to get in the way of their march off the cliff following Pedo Joe? Let them scream and act like the big mouthed know-it-alls they've proven from any issue to be, sit back and watch them play their hand. Comical. I would much rather have the US leadership with an optimistic outlook and a true passion for this nation than a cheerleader squawking about radically transforming America and a bleak take on who and what we are as a nation. Let's look at what Obammy has to say on the twitter machine...

Barack Obama@BarackObama 23h

These are the burdens our medical heroes already face in NYC. It's only going to get harder across the country. Another reason to maintain social distancing policies at least until we have comprehensive testing in place. Not just for our sake—for theirs.

“****’s Really Going to Hit the Fan”: Inside New York’s Overburdened Hospitals
With more than nine thousand six hundred confirmed cases in New York City as of Sunday, hospitals are already struggling to keep pace.

His link to the newyorker.com link shows the mobile mortuary they're putting up. Henny Penny the sky is falling!!! RUN!!!! BUY UP ALL THE TOILET PAPER!!!!

Contrast that positivity and spin that beany. Damn, our President said he wishes, hopes and wants the US to be open for business by Easter not that he's sending in the National Guard into your homes and shuffling you off to coal mines!

This is all why I lean Libertarian. If a person listen to the words of a moron, interprets them in a moronic way, performs a moronic act because of it, and dies in a moronic fashion without hurting anyone else? I'm good with that. Tragic? I suppose, if those are your people but you can't save morons from themselves and we shouldn't necessarily try. Gene pool and whatnot.

Quotation marks used to quote people are obviously fine.
Quotes used as proverbial air quotes are used in jest.
Calling the haters "haters" diminishes the term.
Maybe your intent. Maybe not.
I'll leave that to the "smart" people...

Yeah it’s not as if you have the ability to comprehend it applies to both parties supporters so think a but Obama response somehow adds or subtracts from the post.

Cut and paste my post in to an Obama period post and edit to fit. I’ll agree.

Both sides are blind and justify anything. You just happen to only see one which is what I’m talking about.

I always wince when people use that particular quote.... Holmes himself later came to regret that decision. A guy mailed out flier's to men who had been drafted saying basically "Resist the draft. assert your rights." A bunch of people went to jail under the espionage act for voicing dissent against the draft and our participation in WW1. Some had simply signed petitions saying they would vote against a governor who supported the war. Holmes equated their voicing of their opinion the same as "The most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man in falsely shouting fire in a theatre and causing a panic. ..."

While I agree with the quote I can't separate it from the well from which it was drawn.

I get the same feeling every time I hear someone say 'Money is the root of all evil!" when the actual quote is 'The love of money is the root of all evil."

Context in general and historical context in particular are so important and so few people understand that anymore. The lack of historical context when it comes to partisan politics, the feminist movement today, the state of the liberal arts at Universities and the whole far left/right ideology of today can be largely blamed for this.

At least have the gall to quote him accurately.

"“HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE & AZITHROMYCIN, taken together, have a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine. The FDA has moved mountains – Thank You!,” Trump tweeted Saturday morning. “Hopefully they will BOTH … be put in use IMMEDIATELY. PEOPLE ARE DYING, MOVE FAST, and GOD BLESS EVERYONE!”"

re Obama:

did you read the whole article? that was an opinion by a head of a police advocacy group...not Obama's words

re: Trump:

he said "real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of medicine."

the last eight words in that quote indicates his degree of confidence about the drugs' efficacy...followed by his aspiration that both meds be put to use immediately...wouldn't say that unless he thinks they are effective...

like "Trump has a real chance to be one of the biggest game changers in the history of US politics" would mean that someone who said that believes Trump is doing an effective job ... otherwise why say that?

and he may've been right...let's hope that the tests of the two meds (and others) currently underway by the FDA prove that Trump was right

Why yes I did. I should've known you'd try to make it a GOTCHA post. To deny that he didn't create the atmosphere like the LEO were saying in that article...cue the Beer Summit ring a bell? If I had a son he'd look like Trayvon Martin ring a bell?

That's NOT what you said though. You said he called them effective. Based on the reports out of Europe and Australia I would venture to say that he might be right in that they could be a game changer. Stop it with the lying. Hell, the other day one of you went off the cliff when the President was joking that the presstitutes weren't practicing social distancing and that they had to leave. He was smiling and laughing when he said it even. The guy can't even catch a break when he's joking around with you.

There will be a vaccine/medication that is effective on COVID19. The real question is when. Since I believe the medical/science community I disagree with the president. Unless we get lucky it will take about 18 months. I do not share his optimism.

ok...you want me to respond...

if you actually read the entire article you would have read that another opinion was that other reasons existed that led to the shootings. This contrary opinion was expressed by a leader of a police union. Here's a quote from the middle of the article, after the National Ass'n Police Organization's director put the blame on Obama in the beginning of the article:

"DC Police Union Secretary Jimmy White admitted there was a clear racial disparity in the criminal justice system, and police officers needed better relationships with their communities.

"To put all the blame on one aspect of the problem is incorrect. You can't just say it's only Obama that has created this culture," White told POLITICO on Friday. "We have to look into communities, into employment, we have to look into everything." "

and when one says something has a real chance to be the biggest game changer in the history of medicine...he's saying a one percent chance...a ten percent chance...a fifty percent chance...a 75 percent chance ...a 95 percent chance ...a hundred percent chance...that it will be effective...that the combo of drugs would have a chance to be effective

one doesn't add that level of hype if the chance of its effectiveness is minimal...

he's not saying that it has a chance to make him a wad of cash...a chance to smell nice...a chance to taste good...a chance to kill people...he even said history of medicine

the purpose of medicine is to have some effectiveness in making sick people healthier
