Again. The president of the united states doesn't "live rent free in the heads of ...." (whoever). It's the president. What they say is news. but what you're saying FGM, is that our POTUS is willing to say things that reflect badly on him just to get a negative reaction from his critics...

makes no sense at all to reasonable peeps....

but maybe in the mind of someone like Trump, the calculation is that the loss of personal esteem from the average person, who prolly doesn't have a lot of esteem for me anyways, is outweighed by the boost I get from my supporters who will fight off and yell down the critics

Trump scrapped a bunch of the pandemic planning. (First hand knowledge not an evil press plant).

When he says no one could imagine this, or predict this no one means him. This is following predicted models. Others did predict its possibility and were preparing. It was deemed an unnecessary expense or waste of time.

So there is that.

His messaging as of late is no one thought anything like this could happen, it came out of nowhere, and then infers he didn’t disband anything he just moved some people around. I wonder why he repeats these things every conference? It’s almost as if he thinks if he repeats something enough folks will believe him. It is his practice.

Pandemic COOP plans began during GWB. Continued under bammy. Largely ignored since. And that’s not even pointing at the security council etc. science isn’t much embraced in this admin.

During the 2012 campaign, my cousin (age 40 or so) said "I don't believe in Mitt Romney."
Her sister asked "You don't believe he exists?"
I asked "Like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny?"
Her dad said "When you were a young girl, we just told you there was a Mitt Romney."
Perhaps it was funnier in person, but it was pretty much the only thing I enjoyed about presidential politics that year...
