MACS stay well. Starting to see some spread in the federal pens. Hopefully your county pen is a ways off but it’s coming.

It's beer-friday in the office....
so we're chilling with a couple beers trying to determine if we can make our own in-house high voltage termination

my nephew is an ER doc at the Long Beach VA...so far, only a couple cases...niece's hubby is a radiologist at Yorba Linda Med Center...wife's sister-in-law is a nursing administrator at USC Med Center who has been asked to work in the hospital two days a week....she was planning to retire in a few months...

all are expecting the tsunami in a couple of weeks...all report they won't have enough PPE for the medical personnel when the patient load nears capacity...

Went out back and ran some ammo through my MK3. I bought it to be a suppressor host, so I was testing a few different subsonic loads. None would cycle it. The CCI subsonics reliably stovepiped, CCI quiets didn't clear the chamber, Aguila SSS didn't clear the chamber, and Remington subsonics reliably stovepiped.

Started looking for reduced power recoil spring to get them to work, but in reading it looks like standard power loads don't go supersonic from a 4" barrel so once the can is installed, won't need to run subsonic ammo.

Worrying about nothing.

It's looking like about 35% of the hospital beds right now are covid. Er... covid presumptive, since we don't test.

Now that I've been shifted to the covid team, it's consuming my thoughts even more than before.

It's only just begun. Or maybe hasn't even begun. The statewide lockdown has been ineffective. Driving around the playgrounds and parks are full of kids playing, all the open stores are PACKED - parking lots looking like December 23rd and overall I don't see much of a difference in daily operations.

This stuff's bad. Really bad.

I'm expecting to see overload in early May. We're coming close to capacity but have workarounds for a bit by forcing DNR status and pulling/refusing vents from futile cases. I think come late April early May every last resource is going to be in use and there will be a backlog of people we can't even get to. Not to mention the lack of PPE. It's already severely rationed because we're almost out.

I want mine too. Lots of NFA forums/threads I was reading the last couple months were giving me hope for a quick turnaround. Brother in law's coworker had a 48 day turnaround on a personal form 4 suppressor. But given the current circumstances, I'm back to hoping it comes around August ish.

My back yard range is open all the time, but I try to keep it down for the neighbors. Laws changed and my backyard range is now not within the law, but still 100% safe. I shoot Aguila Colibri in my revolver and 22 shorts in my Henry. Got a half dozen steel plates hanging from trees in the woods and they all got rung today.

Thinking of getting a 10/22 takedown with threaded barrel $350. That might be a nice combo with the can.

My can is sitting at the range. I can use but they are closed. 1st world problems.

Should I get the 10/22 0r a mark4?

If you don't yet have either platform, it's a toss up.

For me, I use both handgun and rifle platforms equally. Pistols are dispatched more often for critter control unless it's a long shot, then I get the rifle. But most of my utility is within handgun range.

For ringing steel off the deck, I think I use the rifle more often because it's able to deliver the accuracy to ring the plates at all distances.

If I was stuck only shooting at the range, it would depend on the distances available. My closest range only goes to 30yd, and is indoor. That would make me lean handgun. But the closest outdoor has 100yd lanes, which would be more fun with a rifle.

If you want a Ruger MK series, definitely get the 4. I got the 3 cause I got it for $250, but I was shopping for a IV.

So fun story. It's been long enough, I think it's safe to share.

Guy had trouble keeping it up.

His workaround was to put a sharpie down his peehole.

It got stuck, for 4 days...

Spent some time with us in the ICU but got better and went home.

I think I’ll go 10/22 and get my kadet kit threaded.

I hate the cz75 thread protector. Keeps coming unscrewed. Can’t loktite it if going to use a can.

Pain in the butt

Story is that it started with a standard Papermate pen, and that started to slip out so upsized to a highlighter, and ended with a Sharpie.

Dude was rather open and honest with the whole thing which was bizarre and nice at the same time. Made our lives easier since he freely shared the experience, but we're used to people claiming they slipped and fell on stuff that ended up in their buttholes. Maybe he figured there's no alternate explanation to having a foreign body in the urethra.

Can a Kadet upper be threaded? I thought those were flush with the slide?

Maybe there's other barrels that can be swapped in/threaded.

Somehow they extend and thread the barrel. They are flush with the slide.

I’d like to thread then loktite a 3 lug on it. Would be a cool setup.

$175 if you've already got it, aint a bad deal. I got my MK3 for $250 but it's only a dedicated 22 handgun, where you can always reconvert the Kadet back to a proper pistol. And you can sell and ship the Kadet conversion without an FFL if you're done with it.

I wouldn't bother with a 3lug can adapter on a 22 tho. That is more for the full bore suppressors that are gonna jump gun to gun.

The can is a 9mm that will also go to the scorpion with a 3 lug. For the cz75 9mm I’ll have to change out the piston. I also want to loktite to get rid of the annoying thread protector.

If not a 22 dedicated can, then sure. That makes sense.

But if you're going to run it on a 22 make sure it's user friendly for cleaning. 22 is a dirty bitch

I bought a dedicated 22 can.

Been considering buying a multi cal but need to hold off and see if I survive this bullchit.

If I am not mistaken the three lugged adapter will work on all the fixed barrels but the original piston will be needed for the blowbacks.

Yea. It’s a modular obsidian 9. Easy to clean. They recommend ultrasonic cleaning. They also say dirtier means quieter. I dunno. Never had one before.

"Camping" with the boy.

He's been sleeping in a tent in the living room for a few days. We're staying in the camper tonight. 50 degrees tonight, so with the electric radiator I can keep the camper warm enough.

We're watching Fraggle Rock before he goes to bed.

No lock down out here in tomorrowland.

Worked 10 days. Had the last 2 off. Now working through six more days with only next Friday off.

But I stop at the Vets Hall and drink beer and smoke cigars and feed the cats after midnight!
