I could never get along with someone who listens to Stevie Ray Vaughn in a recliner at a zoom cigar herf.

Yeah... it looked like he was over there bobbin his head, mouth wide open... practicing for a van trip or something.

He looked pretty good at it. I think we would get along.

I was in college at UW-Madison at that time. His last show was at the Alpine Valley Music Theater, an outdoor amphitheater thingy about 60 mi east of Madison.

I remember waking up (rather late in the in the morning sleeping off a hangover) and turning on the local news to see the weather forecast for the day. I had an 11:00 class and my main mode of transportation to and from classes were my feet, it was supposed to be rainy so I wanted to see if I should go to class or have an excuse to skip class.

The news was filled with breaking news of a helicopter crash that happened overnight near East Troy, WI (where Alpine Valley is). Not many details were available at the time but Eric Clapton and SRV had a concert at Alpine Valley the night before. Was it some big wig corporate helicopter going in and out of Madison to Milwaukee or Chicago? Was it related to the concert? If so, was Clapton aboard? Any survivors?

Later that day it was learned that it was SRV on the copter. Sad day. I prolly got drunk later that night, easy bet... not because of the crash. It was Morgan Monday's at the Pinckney Street Hide-Away. One pint glass of Captain Morgan and Coke for $1.50 every Monday.

Tuesday was T&T Tues, same deal, same place but Tanqueray & Tonics. I forget what the Wed and Thurs specials were but Absolute Friday was another favorite, same deal, same place but with Absolute vodka. I always went with the Black Currant and tonic.

Nope, just transferred internally to a different position (that's what she said) but it doesn't officially lock in for a couple of weeks. I need to "train" my replacement.

I call it the circus because working at WalMart you meet a lot of odd characters. It adds some color to life.

Think about being a kid... The adventures of Tom Sawyer or running away to join the circus. You can do that by working at WalMart. Pretty much the same thing with better benefits and without all the travel.

I figured that. Dealing with the public can be strange as there are a lot of strange people walking around out there. Somehow they do seem to congregate at Walmart in larger numbers than elsewhere.

I'll likely hop on after another night at the circus, 11:30-ish P.M. eastern, to check out what animals are still awake.
