I went today. Spent about 6 hours out in the glorious sunshine in my little boat. My favorite way of "Social Distancing". Caught 3 bass, one of which was a 3 lber. Would normally have been a dismal day, catch wise, but today, no $hits were given. It just felt good to be out. I don't even have anything snarky to say,

Just felt good, Frank. I logged on to work early, did a couple of hours, told my co-workers goodbye and disappeared. Funny thing I've noticed. People are doing things. Slowing down, spending time with family. Lot's of families at the little lake I go to today. Everyone was properly distancing themselves and a good time was had by all. People kayaking, lot's of laughter. One of the great things about living in the rural Midwest is space. Plenty of space. Wouldn't trade it for the world

Good for you, Jade.

4th or 5th day in a row without sun.

Maybe tomorrow.

I was able to get a Arizona Forever fishing license recently. No cost, just had to be a resident of the state for over 30 years and good until I'm gone.

Old age has it's perks.

Well, we ain't got an ocean but MO has over a million acres of fishable waters and a VERY well run Dept of Conservation. In-state fishing license is 12 bucks with a few add-ons for trout and other things. All very cheap for good access to a LOT of well managed Conservation areas. Coming here originally from Illinois, I was shocked at how good it is. Hell, they throw in a subscription to a great monthly magazine as well.

I don’t remember but AK was reasonable. If you get the chance go up there for halibut and salmon. We are going back in august if this he’ll subsides.

Would love to go fishing for wild salmon. One of my favorite fish to eat, but I have never caught one.

Bottom fishing can be a little fun... but pulling fish off the bottom is like reeling in a bucket of water. Not a lot of fight to it, just a lot of pulling.

I like the fight of the pelagic fish... the back and forth of it. The initial run, the taking back some line, then the next run, etc... all the while wondering if the big mutha fugga is gonna break your line or spit the hook.

It is. When I moved here and bought my first license I figured I'd just buy a lifetime and be done with it. And then I saw they were like 400 bucks. After the age of 33 they don't make sense.

Salmon fishing up here is pretty good.... You can charter an ocean worthy vessel with a dozen guys or so and troll for them...

Not my cup of meat, but guys who like salmon really enjoy it...

Fair warning though, once you clean your own salmon you might not eat salmon anymore... If there's a species of fish more prone to parasitic worms, I'm not familiar with it...

Perch - worms

I prefer river fishing salmon since I've done it once and haven't ocean fished for them LOL

Perch have worms, but salmon have friggin worms worms...

When you catch one, if you don't freeze it first - just throw the filet on the bbq - you'll be able to watch the long white parasites slowly crawl out...

Salmon are gross...

Huh... didn't notice that in the ones we caught.... coho that had just left the ocean and entered the river.... still silver not pink or red.

I love halibut but their are harder to eat after catching and watching cleaned. For such an expensive fish it's no more than a bottom feeder.
