In these trying times, are you doing anything to strengthen your immune system?
What we have been doing for the past year and a half is eating a low inflammation diet. That means pasture raised organic meats and eggs, grass fed organic dairy, organic cruciferous vegitables, organic dark leafy greens, healthy fats like olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, plus raw nuts, seeds and avacados. No sugar, no grains, no starches. I saw a recent study that found that just 100 grams of glucose/fructose a day can lower your white blood cell count by 40%, plus many viruses and cancers require sugar to thrive. Many cardiologists now believe that inflammation due to sugar, grains and highly processed seed oils (Canola, soy, corn, peanut, sunflower, etc.), is the actual cause of heart disease, and not fat or colesterol. A high inflammation diet is now also being linked to the development of Type 2 Diabetes, arthritis, dementia and Alzheimer's. The average American costumes 300 to 400 grams of high inflammation carbs per day, not to mention high inflammation seed oils and factory raised meats, eggs and dairy.
We are also consuming fermented foods (sauerkraut, kimchi, organic whole milk yoghurt) to boast our good gut bateria.
Short fasts have been shown to greatly enhance one's immune system, so we are attempting to do three 18 to 20 hour fasts per week.
As an extra precaution right now, we are supplementing with A, C, D3, E, zinc, and selenium.
Finally, after reviewing a study that found that alcohol depresses and damages the immune system, we have given up consuming alcohol for the duration.
Equally important is to avoid stress and get enough quality sleep.
Are the rest of you doing anything to boast your immune system, or just hoping to avoid contact with COVID19?
