Phillipene president Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the military to kill any trouble makers breaking the QUARENTINE who attack them and if they fear for their lives...

"Shoot to Kill" orders...

Sounds like the unknown black-ops national guard orders that were in force after
Katrina in New Orleans...

You Don't even see any trouble makers in the Big Easy lately???
The National Guard "culled their ranks... big-time" and now most of the idiots are
6 ft under ...

Actually, they are mostly medical and support personnel. Right now of least, they're subject matter experts and helping. A lot.

Gunner, I think the answer is somewhere between you and Clint. If rioting and looting start, which I think is a distinct possibility, the guard will be need to do much more than medical and support. The number of Americans that live from paycheck to paycheck is staggering. If those families are starving what do you think is going to happen?

the govt. will step in and shoot money at them...see Federal Stimulus Plan #3...cash stipends, extended and increased unemployment benefits, SBA loans to small businesses that turns to grants/free money if they maintain a qualifying number of employees on their payrolls...free money to major US corporations who can show some negative impact from coronavirus...

and the local food banks, churches and missions and charitable organizations like the American Red Cross will do what they usually do in emergencies...feed the poor and distribute donated groceries...

While that could happen, none of the guard activated are infantry. They're all medical and support troops. That's it. They don't do riot control. They would have to activate more.

Trust me, I'm a constitutionalist and I have been in that arena. I'm watching this like a hawk. Right now it's all humanitarian aid.

There may be people you love that will pay the price for their stupidity...

funny how the apocalypse now types who fear the end of the world and prepare to hunker down see the primary villains in govt and the military...they are our best chances to survive calamities and have historically led us past all the disasters in our history....

they are made up of people, mostly positive, caring and compassionate people...who will save humankind from the worst of us.... the apocalypse types who see and expect the worst in everyone...mirrors of themselves

given the trajectory of humanity, our survival of world wars, famine, biological disasters, volcanic eruptions and other natural disasters, there are many more positive thinking compassionate humans who understand the need to be part of a cooperative civilized society which enhances survival...as opposed to individual us against the world types...and as we survive these calamities, we collectively (the best and brightest among the positive cooperative peeps) broaden our base of knowledge so that we can survive future and deadlier catastrophes...

we're still evolving and there are two calamities to confront after we get past the virus: climate change with extreme weather disasters and nuclear warfare...

positivity and compassion in social context is an inherited quality in the human DNA that will work to ensure humankind's survival

Couple of other things to consider Al. Pollution and what is the number of people the planet can sustain. Ultimately the biggest danger in the world might be not enough food.

Yeah...but for real though, you might want to keep those guns handy.

I live in a very liberal city and I open carry a 9mm whenever I go out.

I agree Spey.

I was just teasing Delta a little about the open carry and the "very liberal city" part. He really got a kick out of Kodiak saying that to try and intimidate the Commie 13 a while back. So I thought I'd joke with him a little.

I conceal carry 99% of the time though. It's my right to open carry, of course, but I don't like to scare the sheep.

Everything is good here at my outpost, hope you and the rest of the guys are doing well.

Pollution is related to climate change and that has an impact on the food production to sustain the population....as well as the availability of fresh water

not sure if the earth can sustain the growth of the human population at its current rates

this pandemic illustrates several points to me: when confronted with disaster, the majority of humans join collectively, outnumbering those who dissent from the group, and move in a positive direction that is deemed by those in whom we've given our trust, our brightest peeps who study the problem, and do what's best for humankind...

some private enterprises, led by positive and compassionate people, step up to try to do their part without force...

just watching the doctors and nurses and public safety people and others in essential services like food supply, mail and package delivery, staring into the face of oblivion yet wading in to do their jobs is uplifting and remarkable...

it makes the fear of our society dissolving into a chaotic state of nature seem far-fetched...

of course those are broad stroke generalizations and there may be many small scale deviations, so one must be aware of dangers within close proximity and be prepared...

Al, everything you are saying is true, but my meanings were different from what you are talking about. For example, the plastic in the oceans are causing climate change, but it is also degrading into small microscopic size particles that fish are ingesting. In turn we are eating the fish. Also, no matter how ideal growing conditions for food are around the world, the population may out grow our ability to create food.

I get concealed but can’t understand open carry. It makes you the first target and takes away your element of surprise.

Besides the gun makes you a rich target for thieves. It’s worth more than they usually get when they roll someone.

^Agreed 100%. I see many folks open carry here in the rural NW part of NC. The Wal-Mart's here have a sign on the door requesting you not to open carry in their stores, but some do it anyway, and no one says a word. I've always believed that open carry makes one the first target. My wife and I just received our CHPs. Gives us a lot of advantages over the open carry folk, and allows us to carry in many places where open carry is prohibited.

I get that some people decide they are safer when they carry while in public.

I also know the media ramps up anxiety when disaster strikes: hence the run on TP, bottled water, guns and ammo...

I've lived in L.A. County and SoCal most of my life, and for long stretches in poor and "unsafe" neighborhoods. Never thought that I needed a gun when I went out.
