MACS when do you get your eye taken care of? Today?

Yeah. Originally they called and scheduled me for June 9th. Yesterday the Nurse from the Kaiser in Riverside called back and said they had an opening today at 1430... I said, I'll take it.

Wife is sending me to Costco.

I hate that place. Really don't see the appeal, but she does.

I'm good!! Procedure went fast. From the time he injected the local anesthetic to the time I walked out was probably 20 minutes. He drained the stye and said a bunch of fluid was in there... no video because his nurse wasn't in. He was solo.

The weird news? He says I must have been "colonized" by a staph infection... which is why I kept getting the styes. He put me on antibiotics for a month.

I told him I've been working in the jail for 13 years and never had an issue. His response was, "Well, your body finally met a bacteria it couldn't whoop." d'oh!

Yeah, maybe... but doc said dairy and too much sunshine are a no-no with the antibiotic.

So... gargle with the 10% bleach solution or just splash it in my eyes?

Had no ground beef.

Was gonna try to get 10lbs or so, but they had a sign "no ground beef" they did have ground round 93/7 but that chits garbage and at $6/lb not even worth regrinding with pig fat like I'd do with venison.

Slim pickings on meat in general, and priced well above what I could swing.

Got the stuff on her list, and picked up a handle of blended scotch. Never tried it, love scotch, but at $20 for a handle I'm thinking its gonna be a mixer. We'll see. My expectations are low.

Tried the scotch.

Absolute garbage.

I was hoping for being in line with like Jonnie Red or Dewar White which are relatively decent for the price, but better with Coke.

This stuff's bad...

Tried a small sip neat and it tastes like smoked plastic. Mixed with some Coke and its barely tolerable. I knew it wasn't gonna be good, but I didn't expect it to be this bad.

Also got a jar of pickled beets for myself. Those are fantastic. Better than what I've made in the past. Its been a long time since I've had em. Was one of the crops we grew when I worked on a farm as a kid.

I bought beets and made some pickled beets when I lived in Chicago. I think that was the last time I've had em, at least 15 years ago.

Love me some beets.

Growing up, and still, I get some Boric Acid from the drug store, careful it's VERY poisonous, but you can make a mild solution of it with warm water and use it as a compress on your eyes, will speed up the process and help keep the itchiness down or gone totally. Works great.

Glad they got that fixed sooner than later, that could've turned out bad.

They kinda taste like baked apples, but not as sweet.

I hate sugar, so they fit well for me.

Happy Retirement Day, MACS!

19+ years of putting your ass on the line for the country, vacationing in great naval ports like Fallujah, Iraq and what, 13 more dealing with inmates?

Your biggest enemy now will be Boredom.

Good luck with whatever comes next. 50 years down, hopefully a good 30 to go.

Thanks, brother. Wearing jeans, tennis shoes and a collared shirt... orange... I thought it fitting. LOL

Gonna make a cup of coffee and head on in. Eye looks 10x better than yesterday. Doesn't hurt, either... I figured it would. And no black eye, so there goes my "wife backhanded me" story.
