But it’s not Pepin-rolled so Howard won’t be buying any of the new ones. Not talking

Pepin and Padilla had some sort of disagreement that ruined their relationship. I overheard a conversation the Pepin rep was telling the owner of the shpo I was smoking a cigar in. The rep later sat down in the lounge where I was and I asked him what the deal was, but he wouldn't talk about it to me.

Anyone know what happened?

Did Pepin decide he should only roll his own cigars?
Did Padilla do something wrong? I don't think he opened his factory/shop in Little Havanah.

Anyone know the scoop?

Not the whole story of course but you can sense something less than “amicable”.

Supposed to be the same formulation and rolled at the El Titan de Bronze in Miami. Priced about $16 each IIRC.

The original 8 & 11 was made in 2005 by the then upstart José “Pepín” García and his small El Rey de los Habanos factory, located on 8th Street and 11th Ave. in Miami’s Calle Ocho neighborhood. The García family would go on to rapidly grow its business into the My Father Cigars, Inc. that is known today. The original Padilla 8 & 11 was one of the first cigars from the Garcías to receive notable ratings from Cigar Aficionado, which helps to explain the popularity all this time later.

The newest version of the Padilla Miami 8 & 11 is now shipping to stores.

Earlier this year, Padilla announced the famed Miami 8 & 11 would return, this time produced at El Titan de Bronze using Nicaraguan tobaccos from AGANORSA, the company that supplied the tobacco for the original release in 2005.

It’s being offered in a 6 x 52 toro sized packed in boxes of 10. Pricing is set at $16 per cigar.

They had a falling out when Ernesto decided to try opening his own factory.

How much were the originals...and I'm assuming they were worth the coin?

.
I don't buy Padilla stuff anymore, and haven't for years. On multiple occasions I picked up some supposedly-Padilla cigars from the mothership, complete with Padilla bands, that were total crap in my opinion. They looked, burned and tasted terrible, so from that point on I stayed away. Draw your own conclusions about what happened, I have no idea and am making no speculations, all I know is that they were terrible in my opinion, it wasn't just one time, and therefore I won't buy the brand again.

I've smoked EVERY reincarnation of the Miami 8&11 that Padilla has put out. None quite the same. GOOD cigars, just not quite the same. These new ones are a bit pricy, but I'll give'em a try.

I've been underwhelmed by all padillas I've smoked except for those from the mid 2000s.

I'll await y'all's review of the new offering and then I'll disregard it like I disregard everything y'all say.
