9 miles on the bicycles.

Couple beers at small local brewery with outdoor patio for wife and I. They make their own rootbeer, but boy wanted a sprite so he got that.

Been about 8 years since I've been to that brewery, dunno why I never thought to stop there on our bike rides, the paved bike path goes within 100ft of their building but I've always just rode on by not even giving it a thought. They don't make anything phenomenal but nothing I've had there is bad either.

The brewery that is on the main road that I have thought about on our rides shut down last summer. They only made German style beers, and did them well. But that market is small. Surprisingly they held on for almost 10 years without any kind of distribution. The place we went today does have local distribution.

Wow! Amazing day! First day of the honeymoon. Finally figured out to have a great one without COVID worries. The halo and the hammerheads were amazing! The cigar boat was a blast. Though I won't drive. At those speeds you need to be a professional.

My stomach would not be happy if I drank anything from Pabst.

Ron, in flight now. Tonga to swim with whales, and see a few sights that will basically be people less. Sleeping in one of those huts on a long pier tonight. The whole honeymoon is planned to do amazing and extrodinary in a minimal people manner. We now know what it is like to see the entire earth for real. Video is great, but in real, man I can't find the words.

Morning all, doing something incedable today. A halo jump in about 1 hour. Conditions look like 28K feet. I have wanted to do this for a long time. After that scuba diving with sharks. Finishing with a very high speed cigar boat. We are already pumped about the day.

Congratulations Spey!
Glad you’re having such a great time.

I imagine with enough of Opie’s herb,
You could still do all that and not leave the house...

If you don't like the Maldives somethings wrong with you.Who wouldn't love no cars,an occasional small boat passing your atoll and maybe twice a day you might hear a plane arriving or departing depending on how far you get from Malé.The water is crystal clear and the reef diving second to none.Have a great time Allen

Considering a road trip tomorrow. Theres a Ram Laramie 4x4 crew cab Cummins about an hour and a half east, and my parents are camping 3 hours east. Thinking maybe load up and go look at the truck, if I can make a deal, swing out to the campground and give grampa his fathers day present. If not, turn around and go home maybe check out a few places along the way.

I've had 2 RAM 1500 Laramies now. Aside from the issues with the ecodiesel emmissions BS, the trucks are badass. The Laramie interior is plush as f---. The Hemi has some cajones and handles well while punching the gas.

Found that out this morning on accident... leaving the gym, turning right onto 3 lane road... look left and did not see the car in the middle lane until I started to pull out, so I dropped the hammer, spun the tires and went sideways... turned into it and put myself right into the left lane. Dude didn't even have to slow down. Anxious

This one's a cummins 6.7 so probably not as spunky as the hemi. But for 35k, 6 years old, 65k miles, and all the things I want (except it's diesel, but that should help preserve resale value) it's worth at least looking at. Still $5k over budget but I've got numbers in my head to stick to. 3500 down plus my truck, out the door for 25-26. If they can make it happen, I'll buy. I have a written offer for 5500 on my truck to leverage, or just buy at 5500 more than I want and go sell my truck and put the money back in right away. They could easily put it back on the lot for 7500-8k and sell quickly. Got a buddy in wholesale and he said my truck would go 6-8k at auction.

They just listed it Saturday and didn't post pictures so don't know what it looks like. Plow mounts and I'm out. Thats a big issue with fairly low mileage HD trucks in the midwest. One i looked at was missing the front airdam, but otherwise had no outward evidence of a plow. They even spray painted over the plow mount locations on the framerails. But there was a rust pattern where the mounts go, and fresh paint.

I'm looking for someone's personal camper hauler. I hope given the high trim level of this truck that it is just that. Dunno that I want that high trim level, or the diesel, so I'm not going in desperate even with the 1.5 hour one way trip.

Just called a buddy that ran a Cummins 6.7 Ram for 350k. Modded it around 100k and ran it HARD. He ran it on track at one of our events and beat my time in my CRX. He sold around 350k miles, and said the truck is still going at 450.

Only warning is front ends go bad. So prepare for ball joints and bushings, bearings n stuff. Seems Ram runs the same components without regard to the engine selection so the extra half ton on the front axle wears stuff out. I can handle that.

He lives in Traverse City Michigan, said cold starts aren't a huge issue, but recommended dual batteries for the really cold days and plug it in when you can.

Another Cummins buddy pretty much said the same, though he said "stay in the lower trim levels, Ram electronics kinda blow" its a Laramie, so not much I can do there... he's at 400k in his 07. Nearly all towing miles outta Texas and comes to all our events in the midwest, GA, VA, and CO with a 10klb bumper pull trailer.

Ford buddy with over a million miles in his fleet and a 5.9 cummins swap in one of em said its good to go just watch front end.

I'm still not entirely sure I want diesel, but given my northern buddy had no issues in the cold, and the crazy miles my other friends have put on them without major issues im comfortable going that way.

Just gotta check for plow mounts...

Dan, do the used trucks from dealers come with any type of money back guarantee (for like five days or a week) so you can get the truck checked out by a mechanic? Do they come with some type of used vehicle extended warranties? The reason I ask is that the Honda dealership my mother works for does this with all used Hondas it sells off the lot and I am curious.

Nope.

You buy it and its your problem now.

Some dealers, like the one i bought my current truck from, give a short 1-3 month warranty. But that's not the norm.

Mining everyone. 4:30 AM Tonga time. We decided wherever in any way possible we would stay on our time. There isn't much to do in Tonga at 2 AM but we managed just fine. Snorkling with humpbacks today. Then seeing a few historic archeological sights, then flying onward.

Called, confirmed availability, setup an appointment and they said they'll have the truck "up front" at noon. Told them I'm coming from 2 hours away, please call me if there's any reason the truck won't be available.

Drove two hours there and they've got a silver Toyota Tundra up front. Told sales guy I had appointment to see the Laramie Cummins. He casually said "that sold on Saturday but I did have this Tundra, same color, 4 door and 4wd, just like the Ram"

I told him to piss off, I just drove 2 hours, called to confirm the Ram was here and you couldn't call me back and say oops I fuxked up it actually sold two days ago? So then he starts talking about how the new Tundra is as capable as a 3/4 ton truck. Blah blah. Oh fuxk off, I came for a specific truck and you guys screwed me out of 4 hours of my day and a half tank of gas. I was about to lose my chit so I walked away got in the truck and left.

I'm still worked up. Thats some BS.

Damn....

So... super serious question... if Danm finally gets a truck before this hits 500 do we have to end it prematurely?

(of course it doesn't look like that will happen)

Not likely to happen at this rate.

3/4 ton trucks priced fairly move immediately. Buddy that does wholesale said even at auction, theres a ton of interest. Good for my trade value, but makes shopping hard.

Maybe you should just buy a resale timeshare for vacations - nicer and little upfront cost - some people are giving them away.

Stogie, it's our honeymoon. We figured out how to best lower our Rona risk and are going that route. In fact she picked most of the experiences. It ain't cheap, but she is worth it. Me, not so much. Took me 3 tries. I got it right this time.
