I hear a LOT of assumptions on sports talk radio, and no mention of the possibility that this could be a “Juicy Smollet” job.....

Whoever did it I hope they’re outed. POS move.

after the "stars and bars" were banned by NASCAR from their events, buncha fans showed up to the Talladega raceway in Alabama displaying them...

there was an airplane towing one in the sky above the venue...

people showing their true colors...kinda flies in the face of those critical of the social inequality/police brutality/racism/BLM protests going on across the country...

the place in Wallace's car's garage was accessible to only drivers and crew members, suggesting in inside job or a venue employee

Whoever did this needs to go to jail for a long time. If it's real it is an abomination. If it's fake it is an abomination. To me this rings true. Smolett never did.

Fake news? Possibly most likely, a single person started the rumor and it spread like wild fire. The media is about 90% of our problem, they continually throw gasoline on already lit fires.

Bad, of course. Likely true, I'm not so sure. Unless it's some kind of insider I'm guessing it's pretty difficult to just walk into a NASCAR compettitor garage. I don't know squat about NASCAR, but I do know racing teams do not let anyone near their cars. If there was a NASCAR problem with a Black driver, I'd bet money you would have heard about it long ago.

I don't understand how NASCAR is still a thing even without all the nonsense. I tried to watch a race with the new rules and format a year ago and I found it unwatchable. Half time? In a stock car race?

The FBI has determined that a noose found in NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace's garage at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday had been there since at least last year, according to the bureau.

A statement issued by U.S. Attorney Jay E. Town said that an investigation has concluded that no federal crime was committed.

"The FBI learned that garage number 4, where the noose was found, was assigned to Bubba Wallace last week. The investigation also revealed evidence, including authentic video confirmed by NASCAR, that the noose found in garage number 4 was in that garage as early as October 2019," the bureau said. "Although the noose is now known to have been in garage number 4 in 2019, nobody could have known Mr. Wallace would be assigned to garage number 4 last week."

Further details were not immediately released. The FBI said no charges would be pursued in relation to the incident.

“The FBI has completed its investigation at Talladega Superspeedway and determined that Bubba Wallace was not the target of a hate crime, NASCAR said in a release after the findings. "The FBI report concludes, and photographic evidence confirms, that the garage door pull rope fashioned like a noose had been positioned there since as early as last fall."

This is a developing story, check back for updates.

thanks for the update...good to know that it was not an intentional hateful act...be interesting to see a photo of the "noose"

if it looks anything like the pull-cord for the attic ladder that I tied a loop on, for a handle, my apologies...

we definitely agree on this...

too many people with no real history of anti-racist or supportive behavior, or intent to take future remedial action, are making public feel good statements of support for social equality and the end to systemic racism...

without making any commitments to take real action that could move our society towards that goal...

pile of empty words

Why? The atmosphere that has been created over the past few weeks has fostered this behavior. Look at the insinuations in the first 9 or so hours of this thread.

Sonoma Raceway president says noose found in tree

Sonoma Raceway officials are investigating what appears to be a noose, which was found hanging from a tree at the raceway in California.

Raceway President Steve Page said a “piece of twine tied in what appeared to be a noose” was found hanging from a tree Saturday behind a former administrative office, news outlets reported.

Page said the incident was under investigation by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department. He also said he has asked staff and on-site business tenants to share any information or “any possible alternative explanation.”

Sonoma was closed over the weekend due the coronavirus pandemic.

The discovery at Sonoma, according to The Associated Press, came before a noose was found in the garage of NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace on Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. Wallace is the only full-time Black driver in NASCAR.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Just maybe Jamele Hill can offer her opinion on this find. Or maybe it should be confirmed first.

there have been enough instances where nooses (neese?) have been used to intimidate black and people of color, including some very recent ones, that we should not ignore them...but common sense and cooler heads should prevail...

So a noose or anything that resembles nooses (neeses or just noose for both singular and plurl like moose?) conjures up some deep festering pain and hurt within the masses of the minorities? You can't be serious. Did you ever play the word game hangman?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangman_(game)

We going to ban this too along with tag, dodge ball, and jarts?

They most likely had a good laugh when they saw this Smollett gone wild stunt for what it is. They announced yesterday there were no charges pending.

Robert I do.

By NASCAR not Bubba.

He never saw it, and NASCAR president went to his motor home to discuss the “situation” and Bubba said he had tears running down his face and was choked up while telling him about the “hate crime”. I think Bubba wants to be a good guy and I think NASCAR was looking to show how proactive they are for the PC crowd.

Appears Bubba is all in on the victim role.

Bubba Wallace defiant, calls rope 'straight-up noose' after FBI says no crime occurred

In all his years in auto racing, NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace said Tuesday night, he has never seen anything like what he described as a “straight-up noose” that was being used as a door pull in the garage he was assigned last week at Talladega Speedway in Alabama.

“I’ve been racing all of my life,” Wallace told CNN's Don Lemon. “We've raced out of hundreds of garages that never had garage pulls like that. So people that want to call it a garage pull and put out all the videos and photos of knots being as their evidence, go ahead, but from the evidence that we have – and I have – it’s a straight-up noose.”

The FBI determined Tuesday that the rope had been hanging in the garage since last year and it wasn’t intended as a hate crime against Wallace.

Wallace noted to Lemon that both the FBI and NASCAR have been calling the door pull a noose.

He said he hadn’t seen the noose himself but had seen photos of it.

"It wasn’t directed at me,” Wallace added, “but it was a noose.”

Prior to the FBI's findings, fellow NASCAR drivers participated Monday in a show of support for Wallace, a 26-year-old native of Alabama who is the only African-American full-time driver on the NASCAR circuit.

Wallace told Lemon he found out about the noose’s presence in his garage Sunday, when NASCAR President Steve Phelps told him about it.

“The look that he had on his face alerted me in a way that I’ll never forget," he said.

Wallace said he was frustrated because the incident has some questioning his character.

“It doesn’t matter if we provide evidence, photos,” the NASCAR driver said. “It will always be photoshopped. I will always have haters.”

The FBI in a statement Tuesday said it has "learned that garage number 4, where the noose was found, was assigned to Bubba Wallace last week. The investigation also revealed evidence, including authentic video confirmed by NASCAR, that the noose found in garage number 4 was in that garage as early as October 2019.

"Although the noose is now known to have been in garage number 4 in 2019, nobody could have known Mr. Wallace would be assigned to garage number 4 last week," the bureau concluded.

“The FBI has completed its investigation at Talladega Superspeedway and determined that Bubba Wallace was not the target of a hate crime," NASCAR said in a release after the findings. "The FBI report concludes, and photographic evidence confirms, that the garage door pull rope fashioned like a noose had been positioned there since as early as last fall."
