Amen Mr. Tomboulides, but you should have closed with FYVM.

The problem is the parliament of whores, Congress, would need to vote themselves out of a job.

We need term limits. Just two, one in office and one in jail.

Not specific enough Gene. Maximum term limits in office. Minimum term limits in jail.

So, Frank and Tee... you don't believe we need to institute term limits? A crappy president can only be there for 8 years... I do believe something has to be done... and it would affect both R's and D's, so your complaint about Newt rings hollow, Frank.

Though he has done more to affect this nation than any I can remember...

Where did I say I don’t believe in instilling term limits? All I did is make a comment about the train wreck of a POS in the office that we could vote out now regardless of term limits. Your mind is filling in gaps.

I’d not oppose term limits. It could be part of the fix. The other part is not accepting, justifying and defending the BS because it’s your guy. Wrong is wrong.

Ever vote for a guy that’s been in office for decades because it’s your party or guy? If so calling for term limits rings a bit hallow. Forcing yourself to do what you should do anyway if you truly believe it.

Ya know the vote should naturally instill term limits if folks didn’t just double down on the bs. I’d support term limits. In the meantime vote anti incumbent. Folks don’t want to take responsibility for their vote. It’s always the other guy. Hopefully term limits will change that guys bad behavior.

Each party could term limit their own primaries too if they really believed in such a thing.

For what it’s worth I’ve pretty much ditched party loyalty and gone anti incumbent quite awhile ago. My exception is Presidential. I voted for GWB but couldn’t for his second term. So I voted independent. My idiot party ran Trump but the dems ran Hillary so I voted independent. There just hasn’t been a dem to vote for. This time independent isn’t a strong enough message. I’ll have to vote Biden.

Seriously for term limits? Vote against the person that’s been in there too long regardless of party. Short of that it’s a bumper sticker.

I don't see any way this will ever happen. Everything in both houses is built around rewarding seniority. About 20 years ago many signed a pledge to only serve 1-2 terms but few lived up to it. The pay might not be that great but they all seem to become rich somehow. I guess it's just luck.

yea im sure we can trust those infinitely virtuous congressmen to give themselves term limits

their morality only seems to apply to how they tell us to live our lives

this covers your question to me, Shawn. lib/con wasn't my real concern, it was people getting elected with term limits as part of their appeal, only to stick around.

also side with tw, voters have the power to limit terms. but do we?

rewarding seniority is worth reconsideration though. It really is a difficult thing to vote out your local rep or Senator when they wield power the way you prefer.

I think if we can find a way to make gerrymandering 100% illegal then it would minimize the long careers of most congressmen. They rig the system to keep themselves in power.
I would also like to see an extensive overhaul/limit on congressional pay, pensions, healthcare, etc...
Currently, every one of them get a lifetime pension (that they in no way contribute to) and healthcare (for their entire family) for life (even if they are removed from office for any reason).

I'd like to see everyone get health care for life rather than take anyone's away.

I would like to see every citizen take responsibility for their own health and healthcare. Ain't ever going to happen as long as someone else is paying for it.

I know there is no way I could have paid for my recent treatments without help. I guess I wish that for others. It still cost me a bundle but nothing catastrophic.

I'm still pro-people dying in the street without sufficient medical care. We have too many people anyway. But if I have to help people get medical care in order to have an adult in the presidency, I'm willing to accept that. It's a trade off.
