Breckenridge is at 9,600 ft.

Sure, you're high.
But not that high...

Maybe the highest ski run

Air does get a little thin up there. Wife and I both ran the Pike's Peak Marathon one year. The top is 14,110 as I remember and the last 2,000 feet of the trail were all switchbacks. All you could do is take two steps and gulp air. It was the middle of August but was snowing on the summit.

We got an air bnb for a few days, just hanging at the MIL's until we can get in. AC guy should be at the house at noon...

I was in the process of getting him out to the house for a quote to replace the whole system, I guess I was just a week or two late ..

Buy a variable motor and compressor. It will pay for itself in about two years and you will be able to run your AC 24/7. Great humidity control as well.

I trained for Pike's Peak on Mt Humpherys near Flagstaff. It's 12,635 at the top. Since it's 116F today I sure could use some Humpherys about now.Think

The AC guy swapped out the capacitor that starts the compressor and it fired up. As I knew, everything else in the 23 year old system is still on the verge of failing. New 14 Seer Trane unit to be installed next week.

I was in the process of getting quotes to do this anyway, so the money was allocated, and this guy installs Trane units for less than anyone in town, so other than the huge inconvenience, this will be done and over with soon and the electricity bill should go down considerably. This will complete the physical plant trifecta, as I replaced the roof and water heater recently.

I am looking forward to not having to turn up the volume on the TV when the air kicks on, too.

On the hike up black powder pass trail yesterday the woman and dog got a bit tired near the top. We'd already managed to reach the level where there was still snowpack. So she was going to stay there while I went up ahead.

I thought I'd be clever and try jogging up the last bit of hill to overlook everything. That was dumb. It's been decades since I felt that level of anaerobic stress. At the top I had to lie down ...

Odd news..

By putting black-and-white coats on horses, a new study shows that the pattern discourages biting flies from landing.

If mosquitos are equally confused. I'm off to Amazon for a zebra bodysuit.

I think I had walked away while that was being discussed, I had a feeling he needed a break. Wife has logged off fakebook for the same reason. She spends hours each day on there otherwise. I can't handle it that long and refuse it on my phone.

I will mention that one to the daughter who has horses, a new mule born on Friday and a few asses/donkeys. The standard screen type fly blankets allows flies to get under them and the horses will pull them off or tear them trying to bit at the flies. Leggings and those screen head covers are the most important, especially since the tail can get to most areas except the front legs and face. Anytime you have a pair of horses, they will tend to stand with each others tails on opposing ends, so they can keep swatting for themselves and the other horse as well. Teamwork.
