Latest update says the hurricane wind speed has slightly weakened down to 85 mph with gusts up to 105. While not significantly less (...5 mph decrease...), better than the other way around.

With ongoing humidity like that, does everyone in Florida have a level of crotch rot?

Be safe Conan. Hanna hit the coast way south of us, but have had heavy rain and lightening for the last 3 days. Now it’s just 81 with 85%

Think we're pretty much set. Everything that's not solid and heavy has been moved inside our garage...even the recycling bin (...not much in it right now...).

Thanks Kipp. Pretty humid at the moment, had to change into a tank top. Little more than 2 hours before the hurricane begins to hit our island so kind of a waiting game for now.

Conan is from Hawai'i. Ain't like he hasn't been through this before. Predicted 90 is 93 and holding... humidity 29% with a dew point of 55.

I just grilled some Pollo Asada... made burritos for the wife and I... chicken, Mexican cheese, guac, pico, sour cream. Oh, mah Lord! So good...

Washing it down with the last couple Pliny's. I'll restock on Wednesday.

It's just deboned chicken thighs marinated in asada seasoning. I buy it from Costco ready to grill.

Costco also has pre-packaged Carne Asada, marinated flap steak, that is really good for tacos...

Thanks Robert!

Predicted areas to receive the most damage are 20-ish miles north of us - Kahuku, Haleiwa, etc.

Thanks Corey and Delta.

And yah, Shawn is absolutely right. We go through the hurricane thing every year. Some years they get close and hit land (...Iniki in '92 was the last big one...) but luckily (...knock on wood...), we've been mostly spared. Of course some parts get hit harder than others but that's why I don't live on those islands or areas.

New prediction is that we'll get the big rain later this afternoon / early evening.

We had a storm while we were away so the pool was a mess and pool filter was clogged with leaves from the neighbor's tree. Spent the last hour in 108F getting things back up to snuff. RH about 27 but I'm sweating bullits and need a cold beer....... maybe two.

Brother in law who just moved up here needed help picking up a TV. Or rather he needed a truck.

Giant 75" monstrosity. But it sure looks nice. He buys a new one every few years, so someday it'll probably wind up in my basement.

I used to argue with the kid and wife every few years about that. They wanted best picture. I wanted to not spend money to replace perfectly functional electronics. So far I'm winning this one

Agreed. I have a Vizio in the man cave. It's a 37" jobber that's gotta be close to 15 years old... but it works... so why would I replace it? The picture is very clear. No it isn't smart, nor is it 4k, or ULED or OLED or 4k or whatever. It's a fkn television... and it works. I watch television shows on it... and stuff.

Edit: Wife is usually watching the 52" Sharp Aquos I bought in 2013 or so. Not smart... not 4k or any of that other crap. Works. Has a great picture.

I dont replace unless there's a huge benefit (like going crt to led) or my old thing broke.

But when he upgrades again and sells it to me for $500 ill go for it.

I'm currently running a 2009 Sharp 50" that I bought for $1200 on a black Friday deal. Works fine. It was the main TV when I had a HD projector in the basement but that died so I bought the wife a 55" for like $400 for upstairs and moved this one down to the basement.

Thanks DanM and Carl!

Latest NWS report shows the hurricane moving a little more northeasterly so won't be hitting Oahu much. Predicted wind speeds now down to 25-45 depending on where you live. Still gonna rain at some point. Gonna leave everything battened down tonight and put them back tomorrow.

All you guys are great! Appreciate all the well wishes and stay safe messages. Thanks again.

And, I thought EVERY guy wants a new TV just like I do, but our perfectly functioning Panasonic just won't die!

Sony Bravia 50" that is at least 12 years old. Works great and the sound is better than a new Samsung 55" we bought for the mountain house last year. I'm not smart enough for a smart TV.

Woke up at 6, went grocery shopping, now loading up the trailer with my lawn planting tools. Gotta drive to father in laws to get the roller, and down to my parents for the sprayer and the spreader, then drop off at brother in laws new house.

I'm already drenched in sweat. Not too hot but extremely humid.
