Miss the coyotes.
Though I’ll be hearing plenty of wildlife soon.

It’s the in-between that sucks...

Coyotes have encroached on populated areas here. They even roam streets in San Francisco now.

They could be a part of the solution to over-population.
That, and zombies with shotguns...

That's crazy talk. Zombie shoulders can't handle recoil. Duh

Fast approaching 60hrs w/o power. Mrs Beach isn't outright saying I should have fixed this by now, but the undercurrent in the tone is there. To be fair, she was a pretty good sport for the first two days. Morning, peoples

I was thinking the same. Been hiding in the AC myself but headed back to the mile high house this morning.

You know form letters are not the personalized response CBid customers deserve.

But if you get it fixed for them, I guess a form letter will have to do.

Cbid customer service emailed this morning and problem has been looked into. While CelticB said he could not personally intervene, he was able to get someone on the case. Many thanks.

So, irrelevant to everything else. I've got a fun HR story.

As background, the woman is not a huge fan of the HR dept at her work. They have "rewiring" projects every couple years where they lay people off and shuffle departments around, then immediately after, have to fix the issues caused by the "rewiring" by recreating the same departments they got rid of.

Anyway, for the summer she was given an intern that was supposed to do some project, we'll call her "Tina". This intern is hired on by the HR department as their attempt to bring in Jrs from college, and then hopefully, if they're any good, hire them easily when they graduate. The woman was not impressed with her intern this summer. Apparently she simply did not do any of her assigned project, some days she didn't even log-on until noon. She would make excuses, saying it was tech issues. So the woman did NOT recommend Tina to be hired next year, and told HR that.

Anyway, a week or so later, the woman is informed that HR will be submitting an offer to Tina for graduation. Apparently some guy in charge really liked her positivity. The woman was not thrilled, but wasn't too miffed, since she didn't anticipate having to work with her.

Fast forward another week. After HR sent Tina an offer, they were informed by Tina that she cannot work for them next year, as she will still be in school. Somehow HR managed to hire a Sophomore for an internship program intended to be exclusively for Juniors. Even more bizarre.... after finding this out, HR has now offered her another Internship.

Tried to get out of the pool using the underwater bench instead of the steps. Half way out my bad knee buckled and I fell against the edge of the pool deck leaving a egg-sized hole in my shin. Damn thing bled for hours and a day later a big flap of skin turned dark so I dipped scissors in alcohol and cut it off. Wife thinks I should go into emergency but it's a little late now. You can be old or you can be stupid but it's not good being both.

Damn Rick... be careful, buddy!

Side note... did something similar at my friend Art's house. Instead of using the stairs, I pushed myself up from the deep end of the pool, placed my knee on the concrete and got out. That knee is still a little sore 2 weeks later. No bleeding and stuff... but I know what ya mean.

Why not just push yourself up off the edge and place your feet flat on the edge of the pool?

Speaking of customer service...

I had a membership to a fishing website called FishDope. They auto renewed my membership, which I don't need right now since I sold my boat. E-mailed asking for them to cancel it last night... canceled this morning.

triple digits here for the past few days, and that trend looks to continue for another week or so....

due to the heat, I've been getting less sleep...feel tired and grouchy most of the time...wife doesn't like to sleep with the AC on...open windows aren't cutting it for me...

Supposed to be cloudy and cooler today, but they lied. Went out to clean up more of the storm damage and was drenched in sweat in about 45 minutes. Back out- lots to clean up and another large branch and a big tree are still ready to come down in the next windy day.

Yeah... um... NO. I usually keep the house fan on all night, and an oscillating stand fan pointed at the bed. Next few days are gonna be too hot, so the AC will remain at 75 all day and night. I'll pay the higher electric bill for a month or two.

Did you use a sock to stop the bleeding?

Regular injuries heal in 1-3 weeks.

Pool related injuries heal in 4-6 weeks.

dunno why, but it's pretty consistent for me.

I think it's thirsty Thursday. It's hot outside... that seems like a good enough reason to drink beers. Mellow

Got some skirt steak for $16 at Sam's... marinating it overnight. Gonna grill it tomorrow. Marinade:

1/4 cup olive oil
5 cloves minced garlic
1.5 Tsp cumin
1 Tsp pepper
1 Tbsp kosher salt
1/2 Tsp cayenne
1/2 Tsp oregano
Juice from 1 orange and 2 limes

Whisked... dipped each piece then put them all in a ziplock with the marinade and squeezed out the air.

I kinda wish I'd never discovered arby's frozen fries... or Rally's frozen fries... you pop those things in a pot of hot oil for 3 or 4 minutes and you got yourself some better-than-the-best fries you've ever had...

I love Rally's fries... can't find a Rally's anywhere, though.

Edit: There's one 21 miles away in Escondido.

Purchased 3 auction packs on 6/18/20. Only one was delivered. I have called the customer service number 5 times at different times of the day and stayed on hold for 30 minutes each time - no answer. I have sent in 4 CS requests for updates on the order - no response to any. Their prices and my past experience has always been good, but there is a big problem with the company right now. On 8/18/20 it will be 2 months with no delivery and no response and no way to talk to anyone.

Any suggestions???

You have to PM him, and I suggest MULTIPLE PMs each day. He WILL make it right, plus a free fiver usually.

Best fries I ever had were the ones I made myself. Fresh potatoes, a potato slicer and hot oil, cook them to your desired color. I lost the slicer in divorce # 1. Fast food used to be good until they decided to go healthy - now they all suck.
