I won this Bid, got it at home, opened the package then lit one up. Taste nasty too strong. Never again.

If this is the same blend as the cigar formerly known as the “Black Gothic”, then they are indeed on the harsher side when young. I won a 5er of the Torpedos when I first found this site. Smoked the first one 2 days after receiving my order and boy, was that a mistake! Mighta coughed more than I puffed. Tried another one a month later and thought it had improved with the rest. Waited two more months and it was even better. But, not saying they’re great, or even good, just saying that resting them could give you a new perspective.

Of course that was over 7 years ago so ymmv.

The “Black Gothic” Torpedo is about the mildest cigar in my humidor right now.

A buddy of mine gave me a Black (Gothic) torpedo last August, guess I should spark it up soon to see if it's as mild as you say.

Reborn - two early lessons; (1) Cigars right off the truck need a rest before being smoked. It is hard to avoid the temptation. (2) Try one or five before you buy a box or mazo. There are more lessons down the road and this is a good place to learn while you progress.

Yes, I know that. Just couldn't wait. But how do you try one or two prior to buying a box in this lock down that we were having? I have quit a collection and I enjoy Mild Cigars. Not just Mild but nice tasting also. I smoked all kinds and I chose my battles. I smoked some Rocky Patel's and caught one hell of a buzz and still have half the box. I have a Wineadore, Tupadore, and regular Humidors with digital Hygrometers. I made plenty of mistakes, learned from them and still going strong. Peace.

There are a LOT of other vendors that sell singles or 5-packs so search around. A few places even offer free or fixed shipping costs.

At this point in your cigar "career", with your tastes leaning more towards Mild cigars, I would guess you're more of a Connecticut wrapper kind of guy. Although I'm more of a Med to Med-Full smoker, a few of these Mild to Mild-Med cigars come quickly to mind:

Ashton Classic
Avo Classic
Montecristo White
My Father Connecticut
Oliva Connecticut
Pinar del Rio (PDR) 1878 Cubano Especial Capa (Natural)

Of course ymmv but good luck in your cigar journey. Herfing
