Introduction and a random question

Hey everyone!

Never made a proper introduction. Here I am, y'all would consider me a noob. Been smoking cigars for ~15 years, more seriously for the past decade, but most seriously the past 2-3 years. While I enjoy a fine top shelfer from time to time, a glance at my humidor will prove my love for more budget smokes. Everything from shop blends, bundles, and 5 Vegas, with only the occasional padron or liga privada thrown in. What can I say? I enjoy cheap smokes, which brought me to cbid a couple years ago. I'm that time I've been enjoying the banter here but very rarely got involved until the past week or so.

Now that that's out of the way, here's a random question for you...err... upstanding citizens:
I'm not a drinker, but love the idea of the various flavors from whiskeys and the like. Since I don't drink, other than the usual coffees and teas, what non-alcoholic beverages can you pick out similar flavors from? Bonus points if they pair well with cigars.

I can’t give you an answer as it relates to the bourbon / whisky part but have enjoyed these non-alcoholic beverages while smoking a cigar:

Dr. Pepper - regular or diet
Lemonade - suggested by Stinger88 / David...and believe it or not, it works!
Mexican Coke
Orange Crush
Root beer - A&W and Mug are my favorites

ZKing, to determine who you are and decide upon your forum worthiness, please answer the following simple questions:

Pancakes or waffles ?
Do you like long walks on the beach ?
Daisy Mae or Ellie Mae ?
Do you like camping by the river ?
Cello on or cello off ?
David Lee or Sammy ?
Warner Oland or Sidney Toler ?
Have you been in a Turkish prison ?
Do you like gladiator movies ?
Have you ever seen a grown man naked (other than mirrors or porn) ?
dogs or cats ?
Men or women ?
Wad or fold ?
Sit or squat ?
Mary Ann or Ginger ?
Do sad movies make you cry ?
Butter or margarine ?
Pancho or Cisco ?

You should realize that we already have a Z and a King (of the Cove) and a King just moved in down the street from me this fall.

I hope this latest revision of the questionaire meets with the approval of Palama and that other SOB.

Pancakes or waffles - waffles are just plaid pancakes
Do you like long walks on the beach - off a short pier, it seems
Daisy Mae or Ellie Mae - I once knew a girl named April May
Do you like camping by the river - last time that happened I woke up awfully sore....
Cello on or cello off - I like my cello yello and mello
David Lee or Sammy - I know a David, a Lee, and a Sammy, all the are idiots
Warner Oland or Sidney Toler - I don't trust the Swedes, so I'm going with Sid
Have you been in a Turkish prison - I'm not say liberty to discuss that
Do you like gladiator movies - meh
Have you ever seen a grown man naked (other than mirrors or porn) - I'm also not at liberty to discuss that
dogs or cats - cats are ashholes
Men or women - in today's climate an I even allowed to address something as taboo as gender?
Wad or fold - pssh, my laundry never gets put away, I just wear it straight from the dryer
Sit or squat - again, but at liberty to discuss
Mary Ann or Ginger - yes
Do sad movies make you cry - I'm not crying, you're crying
Butter or margarine - I'm vegan......oh God I almost said that without laughing!
Pancho or Cisco - Leo

Welcome to the madhouse n00b not n00b. Herfing

Only other drink other than bourbon I drink with gars is water or occasionally a beer (if paired properly) or an energy drink. It seems to me most sweeter type drinks go well with cigars but i haven't test this theory.

a cigar with carbonated diet sodas work for me...fave flavors are root beer, cream soda, ginger ale, Dr. Pepper, cherry vanilla 7Up...

but to really enjoy just the cigar, or one I haven't had before, I pair it with iced water only

Dr pepper goes great. A good root beer as well. Cream sodas with lighter stuff.

See, I've done all the sodas, with cream soda, root beer, and dr pepper with cream soda being the best. Done perrier, water, coffee, tea, milkshakes as well. I guess what I'm getting at is if there are any non-alcoholic drinks that carry similar flavor notes as whiskeys. Smokiness, peat, caramels, oakiness, etc. I know Dr Pepper probably comes closest, but looking for something uncommon that I could do a "tasting" with. Is there even anything out there, or do I need to figure out a way to create my own alcohol free spirits company, corner the market, sell the company, and finally be able to afford a "real" cigar

Who the **** smokes a cigar without whiskey???

I just can't wrap my brain around a cigar with no bourbon or scotch.I used to have an occasional morning smoke with coffee but those are days gone by.

I do. My body rejects the whiskey family due to trauma in my early 20s. Rum, tequila and brandy are all good though.

On the N/A side, I've found Arizona Green Tea goes well with some smokes

One of my favorite drinks while smoking if I'm not yet hittin' the booze is Snapple Diet Peach Tea.
Gives you a bit of flavor and refreshment without interfering with the taste of your smokes,
and actually complements it quite well. Highly recommended.

If that doesn't work for you, bull urine is still your best bet...

Geep... cross between a goat and a sheep. The Greeks got them.

Wool of a sheep with the amorous qualities of a goat. Best of both worlds. Those Greeks... invented Democracy, Gyros (they call them Souvlaki, btw) and domestic pets you can bang and make shirts and pants with...

What'll they think of next?
