President-elect Joe Biden is considering canceling the cross-border permit for TC energy’s Keystone XL pipeline -- and Canadian officials are worried.

Jason Kenney, the 18th Premier of Alberta, said in a tweet that he is "deeply concerned by reports that the incoming administration of President-elect Joe Biden may repeal the Presidential permit for the Keystone XL border crossing."

The project is slated to move 830,000 barrels of crude oil daily from the province of Alberta to Nebraska, but it's been reported that cancellation of this $9 billion project is one of Biden’s Day One climate change actions.

A source close to the Biden administration and the pipeline project told Fox News, "Biden folks were weighing the decision on the manufacturing jobs numbers, but clearly needed to give an early win to the environmentalists on his team."

The same source went on to say the pipeline company and trade union partners have stepped up their messaging around the environmental offsets with the pipeline moving forward with a net zero emission standard.

TC Energy announced Sunday that the project would achieve net-zero emissions across operations by 2023.

But, Canadian officials still fear that this cancellation will kill jobs on both sides of the border, weaken the Canada-U.S. relationship and undermine U.S. national security.

Richard Madan, correspondent for Canada’s premier newscast, CTV News, said in a tweet that Canadian officials view the expected cancellation as "a punch in the face to Canada."

Keystone XL had become a political symbol of the fight between climate activists and the oil industry.

The project has been controversial since first proposed over a decade ago. Opponents argue its stimulation of oil sands development contributes to climate change. On the other hand, Canada’s oil industry argues Keystone XL is essential to supplying heavy crude U.S. Gulf Coast refineries.

Biden is expected to rescind the presidential permit for Keystone XL through an executive order on Inauguration Day, reversing one of President Trump’s first actions in office.

Biden continues the "Stroke of the pen. Law of the land. Kinda cool," strategy of authoritarian rule.
He'll do everything he needs to do to appease the climate commies and harm N. American energy producers and consumers while getting the U.S. back into the pro-China pollute-at-will Paris Agreement. He needs to be impeached now!

weird...cons were defending Trump's insult-filled break-up with Trudeau, calling him "dishonest and weak" while imposing tariffs on Canada just a while ago...

now the same peeps are blasting Biden for protecting America's heartland from a potentially environmentally disastrous Canadian pipeline...

Instead of a potentially environmentally disastrous Canadian pipeline through America’s heartland we ship the oil by potentially environmentally disastrous rail lines through America’s heartland. Costs more and less safe. Sounds good.

The Biden administration shutting down construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which some scientists argue contributes to climate change, could end thousands of American construction jobs.

The move could happen on President-elect Joe Biden's first day in office, after the Trump administration spent four years trying to further construction of the $9 billion, 1,200-mile pipeline that would transport up to 830,000 barrels of crude oil daily from Alberta, Canada, to Nebraska.

An existing Keystone pipeline currently transports oil from Alberta to Illinois and Texas.

According to the Keystone XL website, the project, initially proposed more than a decade ago, would sustain about 11,000 U.S. jobs in 2021 – including 8,000 union jobs – and generate $1.6 million in gross wages.

I know, you would rather have the Canadians ship their oil to refineries in China, which would increase transportation costs and burn more fossil fuels. Sounds like a plan a commie environmentalist would come up with.

Oh... you forget.. I'm the one who deemed it my responsibility and duty to make sure someone calls you an idiot every single day... I'm not a parrot, I'm being a responsible citizen.

So you have no worries, it has nothing to do with anything other than to say just that... you're an idiot.

On this thread though, it sounds like you want Canada to penetrate America... and you really want them to give it to the Indians. Therefore you must hate Indians, because you would let Canada penetrate each and every one of us.

Why do you hate Indians RayRay?

Sensitive wetlands in Texas were worth thinking about, but nobody gives a f*ck about a sh*tty tribe in South Dakota (or anyone along the river's path for that matter).

I guess it's ok as long as it's not impacting important people's land.

Are you saying your tribe is in favor of other tribes forcefully having a pipe gushing overly acidic and toxic crude through their water supply?

I know I've talked to my share of natives on this subject... and you're the only one I've talked to who approves.

Benny, I'm a fan of Native Americans when they go on the warpath against the Progressive Lizard Men.
I remember the last time when Seneca and Mohawk war parties here in New York went to battle against the Progressive Lizard Men, burning tires and blocking highways crossing their land after repeated insults to their sovereignty and treaties by the man pulling over their trucks looking for contraband, "contraband" meaning anything that hasn't been taxed by the greedy Progressive Lizard Men before entering the reservation. It was glorious!

In looking at history of this pipeline, the pending project is phase 4. They have others from Canada to U.S. already, one goes into Oklahoma, since 2010. Part of reason this project is still delayed is price of crude oil was too low to make it cost effective. Blame the Canadians for taking too long eh.
