Morning, folks.
75/63. Rain most of the day. Better than yesterday, which was way to cold.

Nothing on today's schedule unless my mom wants to go to Costco to return one and then buy another TV. The one she bought is "too big and too bright" for her at night. I told her to adjust the TV so that it will alter the brightness when the room is dark. She's also complaining that the remote controller is hard to use. WHATEVER, we'll get her a small TV she might like more. Someone please shoot me!

You know the rules, Momma not happy, ain't nobody happy. My wife could figure out all sorts of IV med pumps with crappy interfaces, but our cable remote controller is a constant aggravation. Brick wall

Heading out for a planned 7 mile hike in the preserve. I just gave a guy named Mario (who may or may not be in this country legally) a check for $1500 to go buy 4 pallets of paver blocks. What are my odds?

Is Luigi spreading the levelling sand with a mushroom trowel?

When we lived in Michigan and I was a kid, my father would turn on the water to the slowest/smallest stream possible from all the faucets in the house and leave them running slowly to prevent frozen pipes overnight.

That was the practice when we lived in Texas. However, one year it got down to 17 windy degrees and the line feeding our house froze in spite of being insulated. I had to build a windbreak and get some heat on the line with a torch.

'HUMP DAY'....one hump or two?

Took the hose and sprayed the wind side of house, when it was below zero and the wind was really blowing
sucking the heat out. The ice made a good windbreaker plus insulator.

now I see that my wife was right when she said we will never live in places where it gets cold enough to snow...she hates the cold, doesn't even like to go up to the mountains after it has snowed...

I peed outside last night. The stream froze before hitting the ground. It is still suspended but should drop when it warms up this afternoon.

Yup. I'm gonna complain about the cold and every snowflake that I have to shovel.

And do nothing to rectify the situation.

That must have hurt but 6 inches of growth in such a short time is amazing. How much weight did you have to use and did it get thinner?

Morning all. I just finished my morning swim. Another gorgeous day ahead of us. My dad and FIL are at their favorite fishing spot. My dad's lady friend and my MIL are having tea and scones. Sandy and I will be having breakfast shortly on the balcony.

Lost power at work for an hour this morning. Whenever that happens in the winter we lose a good bit of the heat input and it gets cold. Thermostat was reading 55 by the time power came back on. It's been an issue forever I don't know why they can't have all our air handlers on generator power. Our unit juts out from the building in a half circle, there's a void below us. It gets cold very quickly. We've had pipes freeze even without power outage when it's sub zero for several days.

Good Morning! It's pouring and 41 degrees on the way to 46 degrees.

Dentist office visit done, waiting to drive to neighboring McCormick County for my COID vaccination.

Long before the California Gold Rush, gold was mined in McCormick County, South Carolina and is still hobby mined there. Even today there are operating open pit gold mines in South Carolina.

After the few hours I spent with my mother yesterday b/c she thinks the LG we bought her is too big, too bright and too loud, I deserve it today. LOL. She called my twice this morning to find out when I can come over and show her how her remote control works. Again, please shoot me!

Robert and Macs are both correct. My Mother, RIP, was a retired teacher and I was the family, "baby" in spite of age and size. Trying to provide her computer technical support was a challenge to say the least.
