President's week is prime time and has high rates for accommodations. Might be a bit cool, but not early January cold. Never been there in February, March was windy- April was good- got hot in may and stayed that way until September. I liked October and December wasn't bad until you arrived after the trip back in NY/NJ?CT.

NOT MY IDEA OF PUNISHMENT !

More like political stupidity.

(Borrowed, not mine.)

In January, Texas Republicans introduced a bill to secede from the United States.

Yesterday, the Texas governor and both senators (including Ted Cruz) asked Biden for an emergency declaration because their private electrical grid failed.

Several years ago, Cruz voted against federal relief for New England states affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Last year during rolling blackouts in California, Cruz and several other Texas Republicans shredded California Democrats for supposedly being at fault for the outages.

Texas, a red state, did not go for Biden.

Biden granted the emergency declaration without making fun of Texas, without bringing up the secession bill, without pointing out all the **** Cruz has said about him, and without criticizing the state’s decision to get off the national grid to evade federal regulations.

He just did it. Because Texans are Americans, too. And they’re hurting, and need relief.

It's gotta be rough down there...

When I lived in camp hill in a very rich neighborhood,
Our power would go out for days...and I mean several days
In winter and summer at least once or twice a year...
Mostly massive trees knocking down the lines or old 1950' transformer s blowing up,or ice storms all the time.

The hospital nearby always got priority...
We we were always last ...
I guess being beside the country club was the real reason and a grudge was held by someone?

Well @ least we had A NATURAL GAS FURNACE FORCED AIR AND NATURAL GAS WATER HEATER AND A YUGE GAS LOG VENTED? FIREPLACE....
THAT FIRE PLACE KEPT it at 50-55 and you could always take a hot shower and the water always ran no matter what ...

It really wasn't too bad...

But these Texans have it rough, freezing pipes bursting, no water , no heat...it's bad and it's for 5+ more days AFTER the last 3???..

Cruz prolly thought when he scheduled his Cancun vacay that the center of the US Oil and Gas industry can not possibly experience another power outage like the one in 2011...

not after after all his efforts to make sure it wouldn't happen again, right?.... he does such great work, providing for his peeps...

and since climate change is not real, that can not be an excuse

The are three electrical grids in the US. Western, Eastern, and Texas. Texas never got on one of the interstate grids and does not participate in interstate power sales. That decision was made before President Biden was born.

yeah...can't blame them for their incompetence...

who could've predicted this severe weather, and that it would have such nasty consequences?

CA should load up all their excess overgrown timber and truck it over to TX for them to use as heating fuel...

People Who Moved To Texas From California Finally Feeling At Home Now That Power Is Out

AUSTIN, TX—Thousands of people who escaped the desolate wasteland of California have found new opportunities by moving to Texas. To help them feel right at home, even the weather is extending some Texas hospitality by knocking out power stations-- giving the former Californians a taste of the blackouts they're used to.

"Ah... just like old Gavin Newsom used to do back in Cali," said local resident Alice Muggins while lighting candles around the house. "I just wasn't used to having electrical power all the time and it felt really weird. Now, it feels a little more like home!"

According to sources, former Californians are helping people in their Texas communities who have never experienced something like this before. From how to prepare food without electricity to how to use an emergency generator, the Californian immigrants to Texas have been instrumental in keeping their communities alive in the midst of the outages.

California Governor Gavin Newsom attempted to gloat in a Facebook Live post, but his phone died and he was unable to charge it due to a power outage.

You sure about this? TX didn't become a state until 1845 and Edison didn't light up Manhattan until 1882. Yeah... I guess the timing is about right, late 1800's to early NINE! teen hundreds.

Just dad making sure his wife and kids safe there, that's what father do. Now he's back to work. You would do the same.(it's not like a senator needs to worry about personal heat, elec and water.

If your looking for a politician with upstanding character you'll be hard pressed to find one. You'd have a better chance finding a authentic Cuban cigar in Cancun.

You mean like TW?Think

You can see it with the leftist reaction to Rush Limbaugh's passing too.

A Lot of Folks Are Very Happy Rush Limbaugh Is Dead: ‘A Coward and White Supremacist’.

https://www.thewrap.com/a-lot-of-folks-are-very-happy-rush-limbaugh-is-dead-a-coward-and-white-supremacist/

As if just saying he was a racist is proof enough.
Of course you'd have to not recognise that his long time producer, James Golden ("Bo Snerdley,") is black.

Let’s say my team is the KC Chiefs. If they make a dumb mistake it’s ok to say they did. Fans of other teams can say they did, but gasp, so can Chiefs fans or chiefs players and coaches. It’s just reality.

This was a really dumb mistake by Cruz regardless of team. Why would anyone want to say differently. It was an unforced error.

It’s not hard unless you are so far up the left right ass you can no longer be objective.

So he took some time off and took his family to Cancun. So what? Does every move a politician makes on his own time have to be a political statement? I don't think the left was crying foul when the Obama's took all those massively expensive vacations at the taxpayers expense.
Would he not going on vacation make the feckless proles feel better? Would that have had any impact on fixing the problems with the grid?

we expect our leaders to be at the wheel and involved: in response, planning, recovery during EMERGENCIES when lives are being lost and are at risk...manage and mitigate threats to public safety...it's the basic purpose of government, even small government in Texas...

if Texans are happy with what Ted Cruz did, they're the ones who matter...let them decide who their leaders will be...

I was not happy when Nancy Pelosi was caught getting her hair done when all salons were shut down...I was not happy when Gavin Newsome held a dinner celebration with a few high rollers at a fancy restaurant when dining in was prohibited... if they run for office again, those images will be targeted by their political opponents, and may determine their fate...just as this will have some bearing on Cruz's political future

running off to Mexico when there is a state wide power outage and water shortage sure looks bad for someone who aspires to be POTUS...he may've ruined his chances to remain senior Senator for Texas, much less POTUS, unless Texans have bigger hearts and supplies of forgiveness than we give them credit for...

the majority of Americans have already judged Cruz...

the peeps she represents in her district love her...they're the ones who vote for her....the rest of the outside noise makers don't matter

we'll see how much love Cruz has when he comes up for re-election...noise from outside Texas won't matter...

but if he runs for POTUS, as it seems he was thinking about...he's in a deep hole
