Before you bid on or buy cigars think about this:

When Castro took over the owners of brands such as Partagas, Montecristo, and H. Upmann as well as others left Cuba and reestablished their operations in various Central American countries. At this time most of these companies were closely held by family members. They were very proud of their product and took great care delivering quality smokes. Over the years many of these companies have sold out to the multinational conglomerates who worry about counting as many beans as possible.

So before you come here and complain keep in mind that old adage of “you get what you pay for”.

Instead learn who blends and rolls the sought after cigars. These cigars may cost a little more up front, but you’ll toss far fewer in the trash.

Hint: halfwheel.com is a good place to start. Cigar Aficionado not so much.

If you’re unsure ask someone who has been here a bit. Lots of good info to be had if you ask the correct questions.

That’s my good deed for the day. Back to being an azzhat for me.

Who is Castro?

Who are the multinationals?

If one sells out family heritage, is he/she a traitor?

I thought what happened was that when an embargo was put in place between the US and Cuba, the US trademark office canceled all trademarks held by Cuban entities... and as a result, those well known Cuban names were re-trademarked by soulless companies like general and altadis, who replaced the Cuban tobacco with whatever leaves and other bits of scrubble they found on the floor... is that not what happened?

I’m pretty sure some of the brands were reestablished by the original brand owners outside of Cuba. Others, like you said.

I use halfwheel as a reference when bidding.. It's good for that...
