Help! My cigars taste the same

When I pull a cigar out my personal humi they all taste the same but when I smoke from my local cigar bar I have no problem with different tastes. My box is a 100 count box with crystals in the bottom and an electric humidifier with a fan. The fan causes a 1% fluctuation from 69-68 every 15 minutes. I’m increasing from 25-75 cigars to try to remedy that. I’m starting to rotate cigars every 2 weeks. Other than this though I have no clue why they would loose their taste. Any suggestions? I don’t want to ruin some expensive cigars I was gifted.

Are you using a propolyne glycol solution in your humidifier? If so, stop...

Did you season your humidor with something other than distilled water? If so, then your cigars are likely soaking up whatever crap that was...

Other than that, do you buy crap cigars? Cuz crap cigars all turn to more crap with age...

Finally, have you been tested for covid? Cuz that does stuff to your tasters...

Not sure what else the problem might be but 72% humidity for sure isn't the solution... most guys like 65%...

Never had Covid! And when I go to my local cigar bar and smoke right of their walk in humidor I have no problem with taste. The glycol crystals that came with the humidifier built into my humidor have 50 glycol solution but I seasoned with distilled water. From what I’m gathering I should try some beads and get rid of the gel solution

Only use HF beads.

Only season your humidifier with lettuce.

Any experience with the black ice humicare beads that split into 4 sections?
My girlfriend tries to get me to use those rabbit glass ones every Saturday but I’m just not ready yet

Lastly do you think my current cigars are a lost cause or will they bounce back with enough rest and rotation in the box?

I always rotate boxes, and don’t be afraid I’d do all 4 at once.

Funny, I've always thought the same about cigars I get from the shpo. That's why I always try to bring them home to properly rest before smoking.
Of course I more so suspect the overly smoke saturated lounge stank which kills the subtle nuance I can pick up anywhere else but there.

Yoir cigars will be fine once you fix the problem and give them some time to bounce back. Honestly it sounds like ypir cigars are over humidified. Try this, take 3 cigars you might want to smoke, take them out of the humidifier, put them in an old wooden cigar box on the counter and close the lid. No humidifiers, just them. Next day, take one and smoke it. Close the lid. Day two smoke the second cigar from that box. Day 3, repeat. Note any diffetences. You might be surprised.

Small humidors are a pain in the ass and prone to over himidification. Airflow is rsstricted, the humidity bounces up and down by a large margin any time a lid is opened, 1-2 cigars added or removed can throw it out of whack for a day (more/less. Your shpo has big recah-in humidors or walk ins, that's part of their advantage.

The "black ice" beads are just PG gel. Hymie is talking about real humidity regulatong solid beads. I have both HF and HCM. They both work well. Michael, the owner of HCM is a personal friend whom I've smoked cigars with many times, I'm gonna buy his stuff even if it costs a bit more. I think it was a better product before he bought the company, that just sealed the deal.

Lettuce is awesome and don't fear the rabbit. You might find that you enjoy the excitement.

Damn! Thanks for the thoughtful response I appreciate all the info! I don’t have a box but I’m trying out on old small humidor. And I’ve ordered some heartfelt XL 65% beads. Thanks for taking the time!

those luscious moist emerald leaves are really enticing when they slowly, rhythmically wrap themselves around your cigar
