2021 is the first time I tried Dark Lord. It absoulty expanded my perception of what beer can be.

I drink some fairly nice wine. Yet this absolutely is the most memorable beverage I have had in the last year.

Most memorable of this year is Darklord for me too. It's always a memorable experience.

Thanks to covid I got my hands on several bottles.

Thanks to danm I got my hands on one. But now I have a mental block waiting for that mythical "right time"

K&S 23yr rum was a great bottle to crack open. Nothing against the Diplomatica, Frank

I like Smith and Cross ^ better than K&S.

Mine this year would be Ardbeg. I’ve never been a peated fan, and outta the blue decided to try some (it was free) at my local cigar shpo they priced protected Platinum Members™️ free beverages. I was shocked how much I liked it. To be fair, had I NOT tried Oban14 at Delta1’s house I might not of even dared try it. I’m glad I did.

Since then I’ve gone through a bottle of peated Irish (Connemara) and a bottle of Ardbeg An Oa. Not something I yearn for but I’m stoked that I don’t hate it now!

Bacoo 8yr rum. I've always used rum as a mixer until someone sent me that. Went through the whole bottle neat. On the other hand I've discovered I HATE scotch and scotch hates me. Yuck.

Easy, the only thing I had was one bottle of New Belgium's 1554 Black Lager. Not real fancy or expensive, but it tasted pretty good.

Both added to the need to try list. I need to start chugging these bottles to make room

My first (and only) bottle of Dom Perignon that I had been saving since around 2009.

Kinda like saying you drove a Ford. Which one matters a bunch.

Had a Dark Lord (2020 regular) last year thanks to a trade with danm. Tastes differ and I was slightly disappointed since I too was expecting it to be great. A little too sweet to be the best but still in my top 5-10. I have three more bottles 2017-2019 to try.

Dark Lord changes every year with variants so I'm hoping for even better with the chili variant 2018 IIRC.

most memorable drink was one I did not partake... had a 750ml bottle of Crown Royal that was a centerpiece table treat for guests to enjoy at my friend's wedding in 1985...after the reception while everyone was leaving, I noticed that the bottle had been unopened and asked the remaining folks at our table if I could take it....no objections...

didn't open it for several years....so I hatched a plan to surprise him with it on a significant wedding anniversary...I settled on his 40th, being pretty sure we'd both get to 2025...

earlier this year, I came home to find the bottle on the bar, opened and down about a third...seems my daughter and SIL were looking around in my liquor cabinet and decided to make some Crown and Coke!!!

DAMMIT!!! best laid plans...

What exactly that word is, I'm still debating.

It was memorable. Let's just leave it at that.
