Question regarding cigar profile and "buzz"

I've been a cigar smoker for almost a decade, but I'm pretty ignorant about cigars and the cigar making process, especially considering how long I've been smoking them. I've always assumed that cigars in the full body category were the strongest/most potent in terms of giving a buzz, whereas mellow/light provided not buzz at all, if any. While buzz isn't the only thing I look for in a cigar, it is a big one, so I've always stuck to smoking cigars on the full body end of the spectrum. A friend told me that there's more to it than just the profile, that how a cigar is treated also plays a role, and that "mild" cigars could pack a punch too.

Is there any truth to this? What about cigars makes them pack a big buzz? Is it all in the profile, or is there more to it? Which cigar types/brands have you found to be the most potent?

EDIT: first post here! Been a CB customer for more than five years, but never really checked out its forum section before now.

Nicotine

One word per post you’ve made. Frankie T will be along at some point for a more pointed welcome to the forums.

I'm assuming you mean nicotine content? Isn't that what the "profile" is supposed to indicate? Or is there another way to tell the nicotine content?

Primings:
Ligero
Viso
Seco
Volado

Ligero at the top of the plant.
Volado at the bottom.

Full sun exposure vs. shaded growth.

Full sun grown with lots of ligero in the blend.
The sun is where power comes from.

There's also plant variety, grow region & soil care to consider. As well as aging process of course. But those are next post lessons.

There will be a test and this goes on your record.

Get you some Tatuaje Faustos, JDN Dark Antanios, LFD Double Ligero.

There you go... a few cigars that will destroy your taste buds.

Lotta La Flor Dominicana offerings with dark wrappers pack a good buzz...BGZ mentioned the Double Ligero...

try the Colorado Oscuro, La Volcado and La Nox ... the Litto Gomez Diez (related brand)Small Batch packs a wallop...

Joya De Nicaragua is another maker of strong cigars...The 1970 Antano and Dark Corojo lines stand out, but many of their dark wrapped cigars produce a nic buzz...

601 Blue, La Bomba, Espinosa Oscuro

for some mild tasting but strong buzz producers, try the Fuente Hemingway line, the Don Carlos, and the OpusX

most Cuban cigars use light colored tobacco, but many produce a nic kick

I cannot imagine smoking a cigar for the nicotine buzz.

Having said that, I smoke 601 blue, Espinosa oscuro, JdN antano/antano dark corojo pretty often and don't get a nicotine buzz from them. Maybe I smoke really slowly.

What all these guys said and will specify that generally Nicaraguan tobacco tends to pack a punch. I'd say it's all a guideline though with no hard and fast rules. Recommend finding a flavor you like overall. If you smoke even somewhat regularly, the buzz will fade
