I dunno 8, I think she got what she wanted out of life (not have a job) and I got what I expected would happen if I didn't die young.

I don't think I'm capable of truly being happy no matter what i do. I've tried to chase things that bring me joy, but in the end they always bring more problems. She aims for being content, and changing up her situation changes her level of content..ness? so she's not gonna get behind change.

If I went, I wouldn't be happy, but I'd have the money for the kitchen remodel she's been wanting for 12 years and I'd knock that out when I came home. Probably take me a year which she'd be quite upset about, but once it's done she'll be happy with it. Just like the bathroom. She was a thorn in my side during that process, but now that it's done she says she loves the new bathroom even though several things she wanted failed and we had to revert back to my original plan.

Gentlemen.
It's 4am here and I am up after a restless night. Maybe a little progress yesterday from the West Nile virus. I was able to lace up the shoes and do a one mile walk at moderate pace. It's not the 4-5 fast miles I have been doing every day but I'm calling it progress. Still very weak and jittery but it was nice to be moving again in the cool morning air. Just waiting for a little light in the eastern sky to try it again.

Looks like there have been around 60 or so cases of WNV recently in my area and 4 have died. Nothing is available as treatment for humans but there is a vax for horses.

One reason I need to get out early is I must hide from the sun. About a month ago my skin specialist talked me into doing a skin resurfacing regime on my face due to sun damage. It requires applying a cream twice daily for two weeks and waiting for it to chemically burn the top layers. This unfortunately happened to coincide with the start of the WNV and my face was on fire at the same time I was in the ER and since being released. It is now beginning to peal off and I look as bad as I feel. Picture someone whose top 2/3 of their face was rolled in corn flakes. If I don't make it out of this I'm gonna be a purty corpse so I got that going for me.

Enjoy your Thursday guys.

I will quit my bitching....

Hope you start feeling (and looking) better.

You could always wear enough covid masks to cover most of your face/head. Cut eye holes and wear them chin to crown. If people look at you funny, tell them you have Delta and it's for THEIR protection.

Well, Halloween is coming up soon so you don't need to worry about a costume. Go as a leprosy patient.

On a serious note, I hope you get better soon. You seem like a healthy individual with a strong constitution and, in time, you'll be back in the saddle again.

Got a long hard road outta hell DED.

Looking at a few months before you start feeling normal again.

Glad you're upright and moving though, that's definitely a positive.

Cleared most of the garden today, frost is coming.

Had a bunch of peppers to use up so I started a batch of red beans in the crock pot and threw in a dozen green habaneros.

Can you start swimming laps? It is difficult to get hurt or aggravate a problem in the water. Plus it will build your core and other muscles contributing to back pain. Works well for me. YMMV

30 minutes on the stairs at the gym... 1 hour dog walk after I got home.

Weighed us this morning... when I pick him up... we're 243 lbs. When I put him down... I'm 183. That means he's 60 lbs. I gained 3 and he gained 2.

No more ice cream for us!

Yeah... as if.

I wouldn’t stick to the program. Get a membership, actually go, repeat.

There is only another few weeks of biking season anyway.

Maybe it’s an enlarging prostate.

Bit da bullet and got an Embark dog dna kit. Curiosity got the best of me... I want to know what kind of dog Tank is mixed with. He's obviously majority pit bull, because he looks like one in the head, jaw, body shape, mannerisms, strength, energy... but he's too small at 60 lbs to be pure pittie.

And I am wearing an olive drab t-shirt with a picture of a pit bull on it... under it says...

Wait for it...

Dozen habaneros in the beans mightve been too much.

I've been more sensitive to spicy since that first batch of jerky where I essentially pepper sprayed myself.

The habs were green/mild. But a forkful got me sweating. Ive made this exact same pot at least a dozen times before. It's slightly spicy but not uncomfortable. I think getting face blasted with scorpion dust mightve wrecked me.

Whew! A great day, even if it cost a pickup truck. Our oldest son got t-boned two blocks from his house, right after dropping his daughter off at school. It's a bad four lane highway intersection jammed with parents taking kids to school and leaving. Unfortunately, traffic opened up a gap and another drive waved him on; it was not clear. Both he and the driver that hit him are sore but ok. It totaled his 2003 Silverado 1500.

Glad he is OK. If he is sore on the first day, he probably needs medical evaluation promptly, especially if it worsens over night.

Ice and anti-inflammatories. NO HEAT right now.

Oh, and the person who waved him through might be liable, depending on the law in the state he lives in...

Yes sir, thank you very much, I'll let him know, he went on to work this evening.

I thought the same thing about the woman, but apparently, she did not stop.

He was advised to go to court by an HP officer. Also to bring in evidence the insurance company took care of the other driver. Same insurance company, State Farm, in my experience they are good about getting people paid. There have been many accidents at this intersection and while he received the ticket the officer said were extenuating circumstances. Fingers crossed.

Well…. You have some things here to really think about. Staying on the current path without a review, discussions or prioritizing is going to end badly.

It’s not The Things which you buy which will bring you happiness. You get that from healthy relationships with people. Contributing to the betterment of others, helping and being helped by people you care for.

Once you decide what you are going to do and put your mind to it, you’ll likely get it.

That does include the choice of not taking action.

Mornin' dudes... 61 degrees with a predicted high of 84. I'll take that.

Wife forgot her lunch today... so there's a road trip in my future. May as well take the puppy dog to da beach while I am down there.

Back to the circus in a couple of hours.

The more I learn about Walmart's inventory management system, the more impressed I am. The system is pretty efficient and pretty right on target if it's run right. With that said the weakest link, like most management systems, is the human factor. Never underestimate the stupidity of the average human. Being human, I still qualify for the latter statement.

The older I get, the more I realize that the best thing to do in situations involving other people is....nothing. I've always been a "rush in and try to fix things" kinda guy...whether at work or with friends and family. Now? Fuq it...let people work things out for themselves.
