What happened to the guy with the Heartfelt Beads? His website says he's moving but its been like this a while. Have used those since forever and wanted to pick up a few pounds or so for another cooler I'm setting up. Any other identical product out there I'm not aware of?

Haven’t ordered from HF in a while but the last time I checked, I thought the prices had gone up. Not sure if it was significant or not but when I went back to the site, I did kinda rear back and go, “Whoa!” when I saw the prices. But probably ‘cause it’d been at least 5 years since my last order. I’m slowly switching to Boveda packs instead since maintenance, if done correctly, is a breeze. Every once in awhile, a rather well-known place will run a special on the big 320 gram packs. I bought a 6-pack last year and placed one in each of my coolers. Haven’t had to recharge them yet, whereas my beads need some looking at / refreshing every couple of months.

There's a similar product on Amazon that works well for me. Rh Shield I think it's called.

I know of a source where you can get kitty litter beads at $4.94 for a 8 lb bag. PM me for the source.

These appear to be identical to the heartfelt beads, plus they have the large empty tubes. Just ordered some. What I usually do is put about a pound of beads in a long mesh bag in center of cooler and rarely if ever wet it, and if I do, very little. Then I use two of the larger tubes of beads and thoroughly wet those, which are then laid on top of the large bag. This has been working great for me for many years. Boveda's are good although they're a consumable...beads are a time-time buy.

There is a method to recharge bovedas as Palama alluded to. I use a combination of the two in my humidors and straight bovedas in my cooler/tupperdors

As noted by numerous botl here and other places.......
The combination of Bovedas and beads is pretty hard to beat.
Stable, very low maintenance, both rechargeable.
Going on 6 years with the same beads and Bovedas.......and all I ever have to do is recharge 5 or 6 Big Bovedas......per year.
I have one big cooler and two desktops.

I do use the Boveda packs as well. Usually stick two of the small 65% 8 gram packets into my boxes of expensive stuff that are within the coolers. The last thing we all need are $300+ boxes not getting the best of care.

Looks like some other two way beads in 8oz bags on the jungle, gonna grab a couple and see how they do (only 70% though). But I had to pull about the same amount of HF beads a year ago that went bad. At that point I started augmenting with floral beads (one way). Should work fine.

I know TW likes to shove beads up his rectum.
Not sure how that helps his smokes though.
You’ll have to ask him…

Ok so the two 8oz bags of 70% beads I ordered arrived today. They look in both color and texture to be identical to HF beads there is a LOT of size variation. Perhaps HF uses a flat sieve to achieve uniform sizing or maybe these cheapos just have little QC.

I’ll get these installed Friday or Saturday and update, lost my dad and my last grandpa in September and now my last grandmother is knocking on the door.

Call a family member you haven’t talked to in a while and say hi.

Not surprised on this one at least, her health has been declining for a few years. Had emergency surgery 2 weeks ago for a twisted gut, came home hospice.

Sorry about the detour, if these work even half as good as the HF beads I’d say these are worth the coin. Especially given the unavailability of HF right now. HCM are great but my humidor would require 10lbs according to their calculator. I would need more Biden Bucks for that noise.

Update:

they’ve been in my humidor now for a couple weeks (1lbs of 70%) working in conjunction with 3lbs HF beads and a tub of floral beads (clear).

Humidity is now sitting at 71% where I was sitting @65% but having to charge beads too frequently. This was meant to put less strain on my good beads (HF) as I’d had a pound go bad.

Short term impression? They’re adequate and a good value for the price I paid, and I haven’t had to add any moisture so there is that. However that is more humidity than I prefer. I’m going to see if it settles a bit before I adjust anything though I my quit using the floral beads completely (no big loss there $3). What I want is a bit less work and closer to 65%.

Would I recommend these? I would with the advice to watch the level.

Positives? Cheap (compared to HF and HCM) and though higher than I want it has swung or spiked just crept up and sat. So they are consistent at least for two weeks.

Any crazy changes I’ll let you know.
