Parents are getting anxious about flying a week from now. Got a couple dozen texts and phone calls wanting minute details. I told them the only thing they have to do is drive with us to the airport. They've got a car we can all fit in, and park in Chicago.

They've not flown since Mt St Helens blew.

My dad's been wanting to go to the Tampa RV show for at least 10 years, but his refusal to fly has made it impossible. I tried to give them the profit from selling their old camper after I used it for 5 years but they wouldn't take it, so I said I'd get them back somehow. It's a lot more than the excess from the sale, but we're staying with them for free at their place in Orlando next month.

I told them to go with us to the Tampa RV show this year. We went last year because the Chicago shows were cancelled again and we really like camper shows... I told them to fly down, we'll pick em up and get a 2 room suite. They were still hesitant about flying so I said I'll get the plane tickets too and make sure we're on the same flight. A day after I booked it, my dad put in his retirement notice, so I cancelled the original booking and changed it to 4 nights instead of 2, and got 2 suites instead of one 2 room.

My normal week off starts today, and then I have a week of vacation. Can't wait to see the sun again. hopefully...

I had a mild sore throat last week. Wed/Thu-ish. Wife came home Friday with the crud I have. I tested negative Saturday, she was never tested... she's had the double-shot of Pfizer... and everywhere around us is appt only and booked solid.

I walked in at the VA. She has to go through Tricare. Anyway... wouldn't surprise me if she got the 'Rona at work and gave it to me. I'm feeling how she felt this weekend and my son felt before that. HE tested positive.

Either way, no trouble breathing. Feels like a cold/flu type thingy.

Hope you and your wife feel better soon.

My son came hone Christmas day from Denver. He tested negative Christmas day, and the day after. Onn Monday the 27th he tested positive, My daughter and her husband was also home Christmas day and tested positive on the 27th. They where all unvaccinated. Myself, my wife, her sister and her parents all tested nagative all 3 testing dsys. We where vaccinated. All of us where required to quarantine fior 5 days before another test. Again my son, daughter and husband tested positive and where showing symtoms. They had to quarntine for another 5 days. The rest of us who where vaccinated tested negative after 5 days.

Get tested. Once you are asymptomatic get tested again. Are you vaccinated?

We broke our record when I left last night. 101 covid patients hospitalized for covid. 130ish in covid isolation. My whole unit is covid, as is the medical icu. We converted a telemetry unit and a med surg unit to covid as well around Christmas.

It's the worst its been.

In general, how are you seeing things now on the Covid front?

Seems like a lot more contagious, lots are getting hospital worthy sick, but nobody is dying from the Omni?

Or are the real sick people have the Delta or Original Recipe?

I'll take care of the distribution for her, she just needs to hire me for the wrongful death case. Oh, and if you are going to be hit and killed by any vehicle. a pizza delivery driver's car or a semi owned by a huge corporation is best. Just sayin'...

72 right now with the high expected to be 73 dropping to 57 overnight with overnight rain and cooler temperatures (long sleeve shirts) for the next 8 days!!! Wife and I will swim tonight too. The lap pool heater has the water up to 72F. Any higher and it starts to feel like bathwater in cool weather. Boring, but nice day.

Worst it's ever been. Still dying, all ages. Problem is we've gotten a little better at keeping the body alive. Full tilt icu care for months on end. Huge resource drains for futile medicine.

I know of no testing that differentiates between mutations/ variants. That's done in research labs, not point of care laboratories.

I was on vacation, but going in tonight now.

Thanks Dan. Wonder where the disconnect is. Just heard on the National news moments ago, their findings.

Omni is less deadly than Delta.
Omi are 50 percent less likely to be hospitalized.
91% less likely to die.

So….. what are the hospitals filled with? Rhetorical question I guess. Some key information is missing or being withheld.

May be less deadly. I dont know. We have a lot of patients who have been here for over a month or two. Still have 100% covid vents in icu. When they're out of isolation they get moved to surgical icu (me) or neuro icu and linger for weeks. It's still true if they progress to a vent, 9/10 never get off.

Filled with regular patients and covids. Can't get people out to nursing homes and other long term facilities because they're full too. It's a gridlock that hasn't let up.

My staff who has gotten covid recently have recovered pretty quickly. At least the ones who are vaccinated or had it before. The unvaccinated are out longer. Ones been out a month, another 2 mo.

unspoken are the 11 plus millions of Americans who endure covid symptoms long after their infections (long covid)...headaches, extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, difficulty sleeping, inability to concentrate, anxiety, depression...

death rates have gone down since Omicron is less deadly and we now have more effective treatments...but that means more folks with long covid

my son still hasn't regained his sense of smell totally, after a couple of months...doesn't appreciate cigars or food and drinks like before...partial loss of smell and taste doesn't seem like a big deal...unless it's your sense of smell and taste...

Morning- 73/50 today with only 2% chance of rain 2mph breeze. Zero clouds. Just a Chamber of Comerce Day!!! And, the 10-day forecast is pretty much the same. =d>

Wife and I swam last night. Again tonight. I am progressing my work-outs nicely after four weeks off and being sick and losing weight. Happy about this. Lay about day, except for my annual ophthalmology appointment.

We lose our GREAT health insurance cover when my wife takes her new job, so I am trying to re-schedule everything and refill all Rx before the current out-of-this-world health insurance terminates. New policy isn't bad (UHC), but is nothing like the self-insured hospital chain program managed by Aetna that we presently have. Our current annual deductible is only $150 per person/$500 per family!!!

With four of us on the plan, we have been meeting the deductible every year by mid-February, at which point all plan service are either $0 or minimal at best. For example, my recent CT scan only cost me $27 including the radiologist's fee. We will definitely miss that.

Also losing our vision insurance goes away real soon to so I am getting a new pair of eye glasses or contacts this week- we'll see... LOL!

Just got a call from my wife bitching that my son didn't clean the kitchen after dinner last night and left everything in the sink. Now I got to get him to do that before he leaves for work. Ugh!
