Punch and V-cut?

What's the consensus on the punch and is there one that a lot of you guys use on a regular basis? My friends, family and father use the Calibri V-cut and love it.

Was thinking about maybe snagging that and a punch to switch things up?

I like the really big punch. I like the colibri v because it’s a deep v. Typically I use a regular cutter though. Whatever I find first usually gets the nod

I only use punch on less than 40RG. Straight cut everything else.

Don’t really think there’s a consensus. Some people love ‘um, some people (like me) don’t care for it, and of course there are some that don’t care either way. I’m more of a V-cut guy and use the Xikar VX, VX2 as well as the Colibri V-Cut, depending on the RG and cap of the cigar. For straight cuts I use a Xikar Xi3.

First choice would be a V-cut.

I generally straight cut across the board. Usually the Xi3 or the Xikar MTX. Need to get that one sharpened though

I punch mostly, but will straight cut sometimes (hard to punch a torpedo). Never liked the V-cut.

I never used a V-cut until I saw this thread and rememberd that marcus sent me a V cutter with one of his bombs. I had to do a cross V though.

I have heretofore used a punch, but I overlap several punches to open up more of the cap. I just won (finally!) one of those Xikar 11mm punches, and it is perfect for a 50 ring gauge. So far, I love it. I like a punch because it leaves the edges rounded, feels better.

I also sometimes just scrape the cap off with my teeth because I'm white trash like that. I've done it for a long time and can usually do less damage to the cap than with a straight cutter.

I punch or V cut almost all of my sticks. only straight cut if it has draw issues or something. I use the Cuban Crafters V cutter, its not deep so i usually do an x with it but punch is my go to usually. i have a rockwell double punch, it has 2 sizes built in and never had an issue but it looks like it isn't available anymore. Probably gonna get me one dem Quasar punches next time i decide to splurge on an accessory.

Punch with a Promethius or the Zicar on my key ring

Slanted straight cut on larger torp, beli, or figurados

Pig tails are usually cunningly lipped off

Longer, tighter lanceros & some churchills get the V

I use a punch or straight cut everything except for pyramids. I only V-cut V shaped vitolas.

Get a mohel. Throw a briss. Snippy-snipp-snipp...

Wait for it to heal and smoke away. We won't judge you,.

I have found that a .380 or a 9mm case makes for a good punch.
