Not sure if it's appreciated here but I noticed bids ABOVE the market price.
Not only that, but bidding was over the free-fall auction prices. Seems like the weekend prices are higher too. Some things make no sense. Has anyone run any stats here?

Search for the term overbidding, and you'll see a couple of examples. Common sense is a precious commodity and should be cherished

Ya... if you're losing too much, bid more.

IT’S ALL THOSE RICH GUYS TAUNTING US, IT’S SICK I TELL YA. THEY DON’T EVEN SMOKE THE CIGARS THEY WIN HERE. THEY SIT AT HOME IN FRONT OF THEIR COMPUTERS LAUGHING WHILE THEY LIGHT THEIR CUBAN CIGARS WITH $100 BILLS

As DED said above, overbidding is appreciated ‘cause the excess profits keep the big, big bosses happy. Everyone loves a ca$h cow, right? Wink

However, posts about overbidding have literally run their course and no longer welcomed as PSAs. Although a Cease and Desist order won’t be issued this time, you have been formally notified and future overbidding posts will be met with distain and azzhattery. Trust me, you don’t want to be the center of that chit. Gonz

Lastly, there are a few members here that are gud wif wurds but only a microscopic amount that can add, let alone accurately track pricing on a spreadsheet and translate those numbers to useful corollaries. Iffin’ you’re someone that can, then please do. Pray

Okay, I lied. One more thing. Despite wiseguy responses, this is a great site. Put on a thick raincoat and rubber boots and stick around. Good luck!

I thought this was a great site because of the wise guy comments.

Speaking of gud wife words and ceasing specifically, got an email on Friday that we will "sease" our iron corrosion monitoring program.... This from a senior chemist with years in the industry and a college degree, which I assume to have included some occasional use of this obscure little language known as English. This insanity must sease!!!

Ditto…but when I first started, I also appreciated the real, useful responses that helped me learn. Like anything, the dichotomy, in the right proportions, keeps things moving.

Good point. I do have a vague recollection of useful information. Nowadays it's all political rants and bad jokes

When I bid (witch is pretty rare for the past couple of years) and I find something I want, I place max bid at 60% CI list price.

If I win great if not, oh well they'll make more. If I really want it and get outbid on the 60%, I may bump it up to 75% CI list price.
