Warm out, got a chicken in the smoker. Just finished torching the gravel driveway, gotta salt it now. I think I might get it paved with asphalt. When I had my camper it kept most things from growing there but the last two years it's a constant fight to keep it clear.

Not sure how many sqft, but it may be worth looking into spraying a pre-emergent a few times a year. Prodiamine (Barricade) works well. Spray it at about 1oz liquid ProD per 1000sqft twice a year and the weeds will rarely ever appear.

Of course, fire is more fun...

Renaming Madison the Shanghai of the Midwest. More fitting than Moscow.

The Beltway was averaging 4 mph for about 20 minutes. That is a Boston style, pre-Big Dig jam by NE Sconnie standards.

Had to pick up two catalytic converters today. One on Monday. Don't know what is going on; rot, theft, etc.

The guy at the shpo said their city is rampant with people jumping fences with a grinder and chopping them out of exhaust systems. 5 minutes of work is netting the crook $1,800. I need to consider a job change.

They aren't selling them to scrap yards either, Guess they are melting them down themselves and then separating the compounds.

Catalytic converter theft is huge out here. Pretty much a no prosecution crime.

$1,800 isn't prosecutable? Thought the threshold was somewhere around $750.

It's probably part of the state government initiative to eliminate gas vehicles.

Probably cheaper to feed the horses now than to put gas in your car.

Son and I drove down to Bocca last night to be in striking-range this morning (45-60 minutes) from FIU for our second visit there this week.

We are meeting with dean of academics and the business law professor/clinic program director there, who would manage him if he began doing transactional work for local business owners who can't afford private lawyers, while still in school. He also wants to see what the other current first-year law students look like and there are a few other matters I want to check in to.

Then, off to U of Miami for a noon meeting with the assistant dean of admissions, who he insists on meeting with by himself, to negotiate their final scholarship amount and terms of his scholarship offer from there IFF, he likes it there. Still, Miami is going to have to increase their scholarship offer by like $25k or more, just to meet the cost of attendance offer he has from FIU .

Then, we will go to Versailles for the second time this week for palamillo steaks before hitting the road back to Orlando. Probably, maybe not going to get home until like 9-10pm. LONG day, but real good stuff.

Good luck on the negotiations. And what is a palamillo steak?

Maybe I don't want to know as I have gained back 75% of the 20 lbs I lost last year when I had the West Nile.

Decent night's sleep. Shaved and have the dog walked. Manic weather coming up.

50s today, mid 70s Saturday, 60s on Sunday, they back to the upper, then mid, then lower 40s.

We've already exceeded the rainfall average for a full, meteorological Spring with 5+ weeks remaining.

On the bright side, lawn mowing season has been postponed.

Good Friday Morning! It's a gorgeous day, 54° on the way to 85° today. Back home from a little foot surgery this morning. One Oxy in so I might be semi-drunk posting, but I really don't feel any effect, maybe sleepy, but I should be, getting up at the butt-crack of dawn.

93 degrees today. Suppose to be 60 tomorrow . Just got over a cold from theses temperatures going up and down. Oh, the joys of spring! Hot water heater started leaking Thursday. Plumbers said they couldn't come out until Monday, they showed up today, thank God. Fixed the sprinkler system without having have some one come out to repair. Sprayed around the house with pre-emergent. Tomorrow we celebrate two grand daughters birthdays. Its going to be a good day.

This thread ain't done yet? By the time I get home from work this better be done, the dishes cleaned and your bedroom all straightened out or there'll be hell to pay!

Sunny and high 50°s today, might crack 60° with low 40°s overnight.

Surreal evening. Went Up Nort’ to meet up with a half dozen friends from high school and people I use to run with in the 80s. Think of it as a class reunion with only people you like. Excellent time with them.

In an up and down series of events, within 5 minutes I both ran into an old girlfriend and found out another old girlfriend killed herself a year ago. She was married, two kids, beautiful.

You never know.

Mowed as much of the lawn as I could. Super boggy kept getting stuck.

Aired up tires, they're holding 50psi 2 hours later hope I'm good. I need a new bike. I bought this one in 97-98 and rode it a ton. All the bearings are shot, so it's not easy to ride.

Riding to a brewery that's on the bike trail for lunch, then watching trains by a nearby train yard.

For the first time since mid October, we are suppose to get our first 70 degree day.

The plan is cigars in the sunshine.

Pumping up bike tires also on the agenda.

I'll be at the circus trying to get a handle on the inventory of $hit that the distribution center keeps sending us. Wally World has an AI that is supposed to track and supply our inventory but it's kinda f-ed up (at least at our store). We keep getting more and more overstocked **** that we don't need and have nowhere to put it. We had to rent 3 trailer storage units to park it out back yet nobody knows what's in it

We have a full tractor trailer of Easter candy still sitting behind the building. WTF? Who ordered a full trailer of franking Easter candy one week before Easter

This meme summarizes our backroom receiving department pretty well.

Got an e-mail from some place (https://www.alphasights.com/) that found me on Indeed. Want's to pick my brain as a consultant for some project on superconductors. I haven't done superconductor stuff for years.

I did enjoy working on this stuff but other than niche areas like high field magnets for particle accelerators, MRI machines and stuff... superconductors are an answer looking for a problem.
