I’ll be driving back to Texas, but I would check it out if I wasn’t.

If I run across it, it will be on accident.
They've do a chit job or marketing it to date.
Commercials for Washington vs Birmingham three or four weeks in a row is the sum and total of the promotion.
Can't name a single play. Only thing I know for sure is Haskins isn't playing.

Good to see Fox putting $ and support behind it. Really aren’t any notable names in the mix, no future NFL stars to catch on the rise, and despite being tagged with old franchise names there’s no connections to those cities as all games will be played in Birmingham. I’ll watch if given a chance, but my expectations are low. Shame too as the original league was great and being a Stars fan made it interesting considering they were a better squad than the Eagles at the time, in the championship game all 3 years and winning twice.

They folded before. They'll fold again. And no, I won't be watching it.

Since this will be akin to watching the G League, I highly doubt if I'll watch more than a few minutes the first few weeks and then totally forget about the league after that.

I will give it a chance and see if these players want to play or be political. They get political, I'm out.

It appears that all regular season games will be played in B'ham this first season. (WTF)

That was the part that baffled me. All the games will be played in Birmingham Alabama. If I lived in Houston or New Jersey or wherever, why would I have any hometown interest in a team that doesn't actually PLAY in the hometown?

Agreed. B'ham may support one team but not eight IMHO.

If you could get Birmingham residents mind off UAB action for 5 minutes this year ........the USFL still wouldn't have a shot

Per NBC Sports: "The eight teams of the rebooted USFL will carry the names of the original octet of franchises from 1983. Only one of them will be geographically accurate.

The Birmingham Stallions will play their home games in Birmingham. The rest of the league also will play their home games in Birmingham.

Via Roy S. Johnson of AL.com, USFL officials acknowledged earlier this week that, on January 25, the Fox-owned venture will announce that all 43 games for 2022 will be played in Birmingham, Alabama.

The approach eliminates all travel costs, an important consideration given that the primary purpose of the games will be to put them on TV, and to use them as the impetus for legal gambling in the states that allow it. Where the games will be played doesn’t matter. Whether anyone attends the games doesn’t matter.

What matters is that, after football season ends, gamblers will have football games on which to wager.

As noted by Johnson, the initial eight teams could begin playing games in the cities for which they are named. That obviously will depend on whether and to what extent the USFL generates sufficient revenue to justify those expenses.

NBC will televise 21 of the 43 USFL games played in 2022."

One local take on the USFL

The youngest cub and his family live in the B’ham burbs and he took his family of five to the opening game last night. It cost him $20 to get the family in the game, $10 each for he and his wife and the three boys under 15 were free.

He said the only down-side was that all of the concessions were not open and it took forever standing in line to get anything. Evidently, the powers to be underestimated the number that would attend.

For the night he spent $110 which included the $20 for admission. 16 oz craft beer $11, regular beer $9 and some sandwiches as high as $15 to give an idea on the concessions. He indicated it was an enjoyable time and they will return. They had a better time than being at a movie which would have cost around a $100 for the family.

Quality of football about what one would expect from teams that have practiced for three weeks.

I didn’t think Paxton Lynch could look WORSE than he did in the NFL.

I was wrong.

I DID watch that game for about 30 minutes. The play was poor but the tv production was a gaddam disaster. Way too many people miked up and all their mikes turned on. Buzzing from the drones. Jason Garrett wouldn't shut his f*cking yap for 5 seconds even when the other guy basically told him to. I've seen enough

You watched 20 minutes more than I did.
