I started this because every other thread has so much anger in it, some of that anger has been mine.

Life is not about conservative v liberal. Life is about good v evil. At church today God taught me some clarity that I was in desperate need of. Please understand, I am just trying to do the best I can to explain something to you.

I have struggled for a lifetime balancing being Christian and being American. Today it hit me. Only God's law counts. So any law that is opposed to God's law I will not follow. That includes the constitution. Thou shalt not kill is direct and easy to understand. Abortion is killing, so is capital punishment.

I am not trying to prostelize here, though I am witnessing. I just wanted to give you perspective, you deserve that and much more.

It is very easy to hate, I am so guilty of this. I do my best to hate an action, love that person, and pray for their salvation. I often fail.

Just my thoughts, obviously I am only speaking for myself.

Which God? Which laws? Your God? What about those with a different God? Do they HAVE to follow the Constitution because they don't have the right God? Do they get to follow their God's laws too? A civil society governed by one set of rules is no longer enough for you? You going to start following every rule the bible lays down? Every single one? Good luck with that.

I think Spey hit his head on something recently. He may be dangerous as he said God has teaching him - you have to worry about people who have anyone spiritually teaching him. I think he is losing it and grasping for some kind of afterlife.

You're preaching to the choir Allen.
Benny's practically a believer now.

He's no longer lieing by making the knowledge claim that there is no God.

Has anyone noticed? We have Ben. We have.

Somebody loves Benny

The journey now leads towards forgiveness & acceptance in the beloved

It really is that easy to change your worldview

I think what Allen is saying is : he's praying for you
Face it Ben your called. If I'm right you've always known it

Welcome home is all I can say

So a woman that gets raped , What about the man that raped her , What about men that sexually assault children ?

I am just asking questions what are the bibles rules against that ?

Not trying to start no shi at just saying. The laws in my opinion are to easy and should be harder for these type of people. They should use a short piece of rope in a very tall tree and prove a point. Will it help I doubt it but we will not have to worry about a sexual offenders in your neighborhood were you have kids.

No, you said your views as a Christian will now dictate which laws you will or will not follow. That's not the same.

With all the changes from the time of the Bibles creation till now, I would say according to it, we should all be getting stoned.

Ok, heard it. I have daughters... so, I think my position has to error on the side of liberty for the American here (the one who is impregnated for those who don't know).

A stance I tend to take often... and in this case, would take in the absence of daughters because it is the position that correctly sides with liberty for the American.

Anyway...

300 years from now when our descendants are wondering how we got so close to leaving the caves but didn't quite make it... when a woman suggests it's because we started to use only half our brain power... does the dude smacks her upside the head?

Terminating a few cells != killing a human. It's simply not true.

If it's true, we should be making sure that all eggs from all women get fertilized for the sake of your morality, because anything less is immoral.

Yes, CB, that is part of my view. I did not tell anyone else to do that. I won't follow a law that allows border crossers babies to be separated from them for instance. Does this mean I will commit a crime? I think not. Abortion is killing. Does this mean I will harass women going to a clinic or worse? No. Will I try to get the government to be run by my views? No. Take what I said as it was meant. MY Christianity. I speak for no one else. I try to learn, not judge. Obviously I fail constantly, as such I am human.

If that's okay for you where is the line drawn. Do all Muslims now get to claim Sharia is above secular law in the U.S.? Do Jews get to go old school and claim an eye for an eye? Where does it end or are you and your beliefs now the final arbiter? Spey has the right form of Christianity and we should all follow you when deciding which laws to ignore?

I'm not a fan of any particular organized religion, I don't get it and don't like it. Do I believe in a higher power? Yes. Just my opinion. Who it is or what it is, I don't know.

I don't think he or she cares whether you follow Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterianism, Judaism, Christian Science, Mormon, Hinduism, Rastafarianism, Islam, Buddhism, Atheism etc..

The 15 Commandments and stuff are pretty much the same in all religions. Originally there were 15 commandments but Mel Brooks screwed that up

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I48hr8HhDv0

It all boils down to... Just be a good person. It's not that hard to do.

Tell that to Zeus, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, Ganesha, Odin, Coatlicue and on and on and on. Do they get a vote? If you enjoy the beach I'd like to recommend Poseidon.

When deciding which laws you decide not to follow gimmie a call I've got the God that will fit your needs. If we don't have the God you need we'll create one or we'll refund you double your money! If you get arrested don't call a lawyer! Call a priest! Pray

So you're good with babies being separated from parents because it's legal? Also you are good with projecting thoughts about what I mean, except my words convey a completely different meaning than what you described?

You live your life according to your constitutional morals and ethics? You have a problem that my morals and ethics are based on God's laws? Maybe you want to say I am to simple minded to understand your level of thought? As long as no one breaks our laws how have they committed a crime or done anything to make you feel the need to belittle them? Is it that you want to deny my rights because my ideas are different than yours? Look up the difference between prostelize and witness.

If you have no interest in my thoughts, at least have the courtesy to be civil, as everyone else is doing. All you appear to be doing is being insecure due to fear in my opinion. What is it you fear? I am not trying to force my faith on anyone. I am simply trying to explain and witness my faith, that is my right. Would you take that from me?

So, you didn't say this?

Speyside2 wrote:

Because that's what I commented on. Where is the different meaning I'm missing. Suddenly, you and your version of God are the keepers of morality? Don't try to pull that, so I'm okay with separating mothers and kids where does my morality come from bullsh*t with me. Arguing from authority is a tired old chestnut and I expect better from you. My remarks were directed at a statement you made about what laws you will and will not follow and why. That's it.

You found God and got the warm and fuzzies? Awesome. Live a great life. Start thinking that it's a good philosophy to only follow the laws you agree with and you might as well throw society out the window and start burning witches and stoning adulterers. What do you do when you run up against people of another faith with a different set of "God's" laws and they tell you what they will and will not do and it will affect you and yours?

Saying "These are just my personal views." means nothing when you say you will not follow the laws of the land if they conflict with your internal moral compass. That moves the whole conversation out of the personal and into the public square.

Will you be wearing sackcloth when you repent your sins? Inquiring minds and all that.

Hey, you left my guy out---the Church of the Spaghetti Monster. We have a Gospel, but there is a lot of FREEDOM for individuals to vary from the main course.

Why is it that all the idiots that think they found god think everyone should be an idiot like them.

Didn't read the whole series I guess? The Fremen wind up destroying themselves, their culture and eventually Arrakis itself. Because they get what they want. A theocracy that gives them a green world that destroys the desert, kills the worms and makes them soft. Paul isn't a Savior, he becomes the instrument of their destruction.

That reference was a more interesting choice than you thought. Cool

I assume you know the Fremen are basically Muslim, with traces of other religions. Though Herbert was raised Roman Catholic and eventually converted to Buddhism.

Corey, as to rape.

But if in the open country a man meets a young woman who is betrothed, and the man seizes her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die. But you shall do nothing to the young woman; she has committed no offense punishable by death. For this case is like that of a man attacking and murdering his neighbor, because he met her in the open country, and though the betrothed young woman cried for help there was no one to rescue her.

Cory, as for Pedophiles.

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Spey, I have to ask are you for Sharia Law? That's what it looks like to me.
The believers of the Islamic faith that advocate Sharia Law get smashed everytime they mention it. Isn't that the same thing you are publicly advocating here? Your "God" is the only "God" that can make a law that you will follow, and your interpretation of that "law" is the final tenet you will follow.

Back to the sidelines.

Wrong assumption, where did I say I follow Ishmael? I do not. CB pinned that on me with his false assumption. I was trying to explain my actions as a Christian without arguing with anyone or speaking for anyone but myself. As long as I commit no crime, I can choose to follow a higher law instead. Maybe I am wrong. Perhaps you could show me from a legal perspective how I have committed a crime without having committed a crime? Funny thing, no one has asked what I mean when I say I will not follow. They including you have simply assumed knowledge on what I meant.

Even better than the Wheel of Time series (which by book 9 I was like... fkn finish it already) is the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. I couldn't get enough of it and I was bummed when I read them all... like 13 big ass books.
