Had to go to South Milwaukee for a part today. Got the experience of being the minority person. Milwaukee is at record shooting levels. Got in and out unscathed.

Decided I'm gonna fly to Colorado. Or maybe hitch a ride with one of my buddies in a motorhome.

Told the wife I'll probably fly down and asked her to drive me to/from the airport. She said no.

What we've got here is failure to communicate?

No, wife hates driving and won't drive more than 30 minutes from home. I knew she wouldn't go for it but thought maybe just maybe she'd do me a favor for once. But it was a solid no. I've taken her to/from the airport a dozen times this is the first time I've asked her to do it for me.

She complained about having to pick me up from the dealership when I dropped off my truck. That's 4 miles from home. She asked if I priced an uber...Uber...

Couple buddies said they had room in their rvs but i really don't want to spend 18-20 hours on the road. I'd do it if my truck was reliable but I'd make a road trip out of it. Got a few friends on the way I'd spend two three days to get there. Girl I used to work with asked if I'd swing by for lunch but she's in Phoenix and I'm heading to Colorado Springs. 12 hours drive.

I booked the cheapest flights since she won't drive me. Leave at 0600 and the flight home lands at 2am. Saved $200 from flights at reasonable hours. But I gotta pay airport parking so net neutral. I'm assuming my 945pm flight out of Denver is going to be delayed or canceled.

Yeah, Mrs Beach will drive distance, but it's been probably 15yrs since she's driven in any major metropolitan area, i.e. Chicago & burbs.

My wife won't drive me to the airport either, altho I always do so for her. I'm not bitter about it because I know she hates driving on the freeway. and is always nervous when I'm driving her...she flinches when the car in front of me shows brake lights...even if there is a comfy distance between us...drives me crazy...

Long conversation with an old friend.
Can’t find the recipe I found online and have the goods for.
When in doubt, nap.
Yes, that will make things better. A nap.

Morning.

Working 10 hours again today at the voting poll for the early primaries. Tomorrow off then Saturday on again.

Saturday will be more a much more complex shutdown because it requires me to prepare for the ballot count, which doesn't begin until after primary election day on Tuesday.

Hey. Just think about the fact that a liberal is truly guaranteeing a proper vote. That ought to blow some minds around here... LOL whip

My goal is to quickly become a precinct site coordinator (or whatever it is called) so that I am in charge of a polling location for early voting and election days. Most of the other workers are 70+ and I still have a decade + or more of service to give.

Is your work on a volunteer basis or is this a paid gig? Am considering involvement myself. Based on what I have experienced, you can only do that role if you are over 85.

Applause Applause Applause

When we lived in California I was voting place worker, it's really satisfying to watch/participate in the process.

The US Postal service delivered to me today a Jury Summons and an AARP membership application.

I am not amused.

I was getting out of Jury duty in Commiefornia just because I worked at the jail attached to the court where I would serve.

Wondering how long it'll take Florida to summon me once I switch my license.

Take the AARP letter to jury duty. Tell them you're obviously too old to serve on the jury

Think you're annoyed? I fell for it and subscribed for 3 years! It did save me on lodging during my drive across country. Likely covered what I paid already.

Got the five year. Two night hotel stay pays for the subscription.
Plus, you get a free donut at Dunkin when the card is presented.
Guess I've gone from Libertarian to Communist. Guess I should have known, The card is red.
