I used to have a collection of almost 50 different local, small batch, designed patterns, from all over the places I traveled to, like Little Havana

This included Little Havana factories like La Gloria Cubana x 2 (25 employees)( one tour by Ernesto the other self-guided alone!), Pepin's first factory (when he had like only 6-7 rollers), Perdomo (personal tour by Nick of his very first 25-employee factory and then 25 years later at his huge airport warehouse), El Titen de Bronze, Sosa and Fuente in Ybor, City, Key West, custom rolls and local rolls while on foreign vacations, internet vendors, etc., etc.

It was so VERY COOL TO ME, but I didn't know about freezing them before adding them to the rest of my collection and they got ravaged by BEETLES! Brick wall

That sounds like a plan, DED.

Momma's gonna want stuff to fill da house. Poppa's gonna need new lawn equipment. Mower, trimmer, edger... my buddy has EGO stuff. Battery operated. He has the mower, edger, trimmer and blower. All take the same battery.

Seen some electric craftsman stuff at Lowe's... Under $600 for mower, trimmer, blower and extra battery pack. Never used cordless yard machines. Not sure if I want to do that or just buy a gas mower. As early as you have to mow in the summer... cordless would probably be best.

St. Augustine grass? If so, any mower should have a very high deck and have a mulcher function for the lawn and attachable bag for leaves and tree litter pick up.

What sizes is your lot (w x d)?

Present value calculation:

Most of my adult life I have done my own maintenance on my houses and saved whatever it would cost to have a landscaper/painter, etc do it for me. The dividend was some knowledge gained and the satisfaction of accomplishment.

Now I’m older and have a new calculation rational. I just discovered an underground leak in my bubbler system. It is about 103 degrees outside and I could dig it up, go to Home Depot for the $2 part I need to fix it, cover it back up and be done in about one hour. Or I can call my landscape guy who will send a $15/ hour laborer out and charge me $50 to fix it in about ten minutes, while I lay in the pool with a cold drink and a cigar.

If I do it myself, I get a bad back for maybe the next 4-5 days, walking around stooped over complaining, sweat my gonads off for one hour, take Alleve and listen to the wifey tisk, tisk me incessantly.

Guy should be here any minute. Angel

I am with you for lawn care, shrub trimming and lawn chemicals. I do my own dividing and planting and did my mulch 3 years ago- 150 bags over two cubic yards. Thankfully, I hired two 20 year-olds to take care of almost all of it part-time over a week or so. Need to do it again, but will hire someone professional this time instead of participating and managing two clueless laborers with the cigar on a float with a beverage holder.
.
And, I totally hear you on the pool- with the cigar on a float with a beverage holder.

Morning guys.

Went to the beach yesterday early am to watch the Artemis launch with my best friend, but it was scrubbed. Its trajectory was supposed to be northward in our direction for 70 miles during its early trajectory. Gowing back for launch number two and three- as necessary.

Went to a dispensary there for a big sale on oral concentrates, which I am loading up on for my anticipated post-surgical pain management, hunger and sleep.

Doing nothing outside the house today as I have several hours of paperwork tasks to complete, which will take a couple of hours (excluding rest breaks LOL).

Good day to all...

Most things I won't hire out because sometimes I have, and the work was significantly worse than doing it myself. If the final result is worse and more expensive, there's no point.

Making my meals for the workweek. Made fajitas from the steaks I made yesterday. Currently cooking a pound of shrimp and some rice with cilantro and lemon slices. Got a little beef leftover so I'm gonna make a cheesesteak too.

Work a week, then flying out to Colorado for a week to work Gridlife Alpine Festival. Never was able to make this event happen with work schedule n stuff. $800ish in fuel to drive my truck that I can't trust to make it. Thought about taking wife's car but I got flights for about $250 round trip and a rental car for $300. Gotta load up my pitbike and grill and some other heavy things on my buddy's trailer. I just plan to take a backpack on the airplane.

That is why I never pay until the work is finished.

Bathroom remodel last year: The salesman that got the winning bid could not believe I refused to pay 50% just to start the demo. He kept saying that is just our policy and I kept saying and my policy is to pay you only after I have inspected everything. Later he was saying if my boss ever hears I did this he will can me.

When I hired an outfit to do a new roof and vinyl siding, a part of the deal was that they would be back the next day to put on a new screen door. After a day or so of calling and getting the run around, I cancelled payment on the check and got to talk to a lot of people and a week after the screen door was delivered and installed I sent them a new check. It was worth the 20 bucks it cost to stop payment on the check and watch them sweat.

For my bathrooms remodel I part all materials up front. Labor was 10% at signing and then milestone based.

The boy and I split 3 wagons of logs today. I told him after I bought the splitter we're gonna do 2 a day until all the cut logs are split. Yesterday we did 2 and today we did 3. The log pile is nearly as tall as I am and I haven't even gotten into the trees I dropped last week.

Told the wife when I remodel the kitchen I'm gonna reserve a wall cavity to install a chimney so I can put a wood burning stove in the basement. Doesn't make sense to rely on electric heat for supplemental or emergency heating when I have 2 acres of woods to pull from. Need to talk to a fireplace guy. Unfortunately I don't know any so I'll probably get taken for a ride. I'll build out the cavity and maybe even take it through the roof if my roofing buddy has some downtime. I can do a roof replacement but adding a new hole/flange n stuff is beyond my comfort level. If I can get the chimney out the roof I'll just do the rest of the install myself. HVAC guy says he can install an outdoor supplemental heating boiler that ties into the forced air furnace. I'll have to talk to him about that option too. Might be better, less smell and more seamless

HHD Ram n dudes.

Back to work tonight. Trying to wrap up BS with 3 insurance companies involved in the Amazon delivery driver rear ending my wife's parked car. My insurance co immediately sent a payment but said I'll have to file with State Farm to get deductible from the other driver. So I filed a claim with them. They said it's not them, it's Amazon. Amazon says it's not them, it's State Farm.

All three companies keep calling my wife's phone instead of mine once or twice a week and I don't know where they got her number. So it's the wife sending me a voicemail, then I call the insurance co back and they act like nobody called me and don't know why I'm calling so today I'm trying to call them back from my wife's phone and State Farm's automated system says "wait time is between 17 and 34 minutes" Amazon's just puts me on hold and I gave it 20 minutes of hold music on speakerphone before I gave up.

And I need to go to bed soon.Brick wall

Amazon says there's no open claim on my name. I gave them the number state farm gave me and they said that's not one of their numbers. And that the people I was calling from the number state farm gave me was the wrong people.

Now there's a 4th company involved called ARK. And they're supposed to contact me in the next 2-4 days.

I've spent well over 2 hours on the phone dealing with this and have gotten nowhere. For $900 in damage. I've already buffed out the scratches, but the bumper cover is cracked. 4th time this car been rear ended. Total rear enders for me is about 10 maybe 12. Even in the uninsured and hit n runs it hasn't been this much hassle.

I'd bet if danm didn't mess with trannys so often, he'd get rear ended less.

So teleconference with an Env consultant about a permit modification to the state. They asked me for a year and a half of daily flow data from various points, which I provided because of a deep love of data compiling.

Env: So we figure daily discharge is Xgals per day. We can't figure where the extra water is coming from though, because intake is only about 1/3 of that

Me: Xgals sounds like a pretty high number since the pumps are off half the time.

Env: Well we didn't count the days that had zeros

Can’t figure out why, but am starting to appreciate some country music.
It was always too twangy for me. I’ve run across two or three songs I like.
