We got the situation solved.

On Friday, after one of the worst heat waves in recent memory, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill authored by Assemblywoman Luz Rivas that would require the state to devise a "a statewide extreme heat ranking system" no later than Jan. 1, 2025. The bill's text says the system — which would be the first in the nation for heat waves — should be modeled after "red flag" warnings for wildfires, as well as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's naming and ranking system for hurricanes and tropical storms.

"Ranking heat waves will be a powerful new tool to protect all Californians alongside Governor Gavin Newsom’s Extreme Heat Action Plan,” Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara said in a statement. “I applaud the Governor’s and the bill’s joint authors’ continued leadership on these necessary extreme heat investments and policies that will save lives and close the protection gap for our most at-risk communities as we face more heat waves in the years ahead.”

Well... glad they got that settled. So, um, should we expect no further heat waves? Or, uhhhh... should we expect improved air conditioning that uses much less power? Or, um... maybe they're going to address the energy shortage?

Bueller?

Oh. None of those things? Well, then, what the f--k does the bill do for Californians?

Rhetorical question. It does nothing but waste their money. As usual.

Commies like Newsom are weird. Always trying to change science, tradition and history so they can remake the world.
And this is all BS made to blame anthropomorphic climate change for government-made rolling blackouts and water shortages.

You know HD, if you guys would elect a Republican, then they could just label the heat waves “fake new” and reinstate ICE vehicles until the end of time….

I think California republican voters understand an official virtue signaling laws isn’t going to effect a thermometer.

But I could be wrong.

The Right has long proclaimed that climate change is “fake”. And that things like heat waves are overstated and of no cause to make changes.

In Texas our sh1t power grid caused deaths from people freezing. Our strong Right leadership minimized it and said it would be fixed - promptly doing nothing at all. Cause, hey - who funds them and keeps them in office?

Don’t underestimate the power of the leadership telling us everything is ok - when it is not.

Texas has more wind power than any other state. California has more solar than any other state. Sucks when it lets you down.

Climate change has always happened. The difference now is we have progressed to the point of arrogance that we believe that with enough trillions of dollars we can stop climate change. That arrogance is funding my career and future retirement.

Spoiler alert: When the USA reaches carbon neutral, we will still have climate change. I am confident that with a few more trillions and we can beat this existential threat.

I think it’s humorous that people that thought W was using fear to find the MIC and centralize power are now all giddy over centralized power and fear monger for the sake of control.

You know, cuz their team is the good guys.

Why, HD - YOU think the phrase "climate change" in the news these days is about million year planetary evolution trends?

Come off it - you know what green house gasses are, and you know we are talking about industrial pollution artificially screwing up the climate.

YOU are smart enough to know.
Unless you simply do not what to know.

When you see climate change how do you know it’s a million year planetary evolution trend or manmade? Shouldn’t we stop them both? If one is bad wouldn’t the other be bad?

I stipulate that with enough trillions of dollars we can stop both.

Spoiler alert: When the USA reaches carbon neutral, we will still have global warming.

Deserts of today were at one time filled with water millions of years ago. Pretty sure the global warming that made them into deserts was not influenced by humans.

What ever happened to the global cooling thingy/scare back in the 70's? 50 yrs later I'm not seeing any glaciers on the horizon.

Mother earth don't give two $hits about us, she will go through her cycles whether we are here or not. We're not much different than just fleas on her skin.

The cooling got stopped by acid rain…..cid rain got stopped by global warming.

Make sure you’re nice to LeHockeyDad and he “might” give you a heads up on the next plan from the Bohemian Grove meetings.

Damn it... I stocked up with cases of SPF 100 lotion because of the hole in the ozone layer when we were told we'd all fry like a bucket of KFC.

It does make my skin soft and supple though.

Million of tons of green house gasses - by man. I would say do the math, but this is prolly the wrong forum.

And OSHA, NASA, climatologist area all politically motivated and can’t be trusted - yes?

In fact there is no one that can be trusted when we talk about the effects of pollution - yes?

And here I thought you were not a peasant…

you need to drive a Tesla.
I have two friends who own them, one the intro model and the other some kind of SUV...there couldn't be too many street legal cars out there, if any, with faster acceleration.

LeHockyDad does not seem to know that the fasted production sedan build is the Tesla Model S Plaid.
0-60 in 1.99 seconds.
And you can actually buy one. I see them in my neighborhood.

This is fake news. If you read the articles printed by the car mags they had all kinds of special rules mandated by Tesla that had to be followed to do the tests. Fast, yes. 0-60 in 1.99, not by any standards used by all other testing.

They have great acceleration for the first two weeks. When I see them zooming around they always still have dealer temporary tags. After the first two weeks the drivers become grandpas and start talking about regenerative braking and prolonging battery life. Pretty much like those Progressive insurance commercials.

We even use Teslas for Uber and Lyft out here although the Prius still dominates that segment for now.

Are you suggesting that a manufacturer would publish their best performance numbers under ideal conditions?

Wow, you just can't trust people can ya?

I know that Toyota publishes its performance numbers for the Prius base on using a dirt road on a rainy night with a grandmother driving it. Which is the typical case for a Prius....

YouTube video has a guy marking 0-60 on city streets, not in drag mode. Best he did was a 2.46

Just a statement. That's still damn quick. Also, he referenced there were a variety of environmental/geographical factors that would influence the number up or down

The fastest production sedan in the US (Tesla Model S Plaid) cost $135,990. Too steep for LeHockydad...

But the Model 3 RWD cost $46,990.
Starting in 2023 is should get the $7,500 tax rebate, so $39,490
With the estimated 5 year saving is gas and oil changes, along with the rebate $32,890.

The average cost of a medium sedan (like a model 3) is $30,000.
