48 degrees this morning. Doggy is going to have to wait a bit.
Feels like the first day of Autumn. Anxious

Didn't like yesterday's 48 degrees. So this morning it is 45.

In great news, I learned this morning my son is coming home for the weekend.

Can't chart how happy that makes me.

Morning folks. Ugly morning out there. Due to a tropical depression off Baja the RH is in the 80% range . I walked out and thought I had moved to Florida. d'oh!

In a stunning turn of events it's relatively bearable here. Only 81 with 83% humidity.

Turf guy texted... he is expecting the turf he ordered to arrive today and wanted to know, if it does, could he start tomorrow.

Um... hell yes.

He ain't wrong... lol.

SoCal weather, especially in the San Diego area, is unbeatable. I knew what I was getting into with the heat and humidity here. I lived in the Philippines for 3 years... I'll get used to it.

Neurosurgeon appointment today.

Superficial sutures were removed this morning while the big thick ones under the skin have dissolve or are in the process. Can start driving a bit once I'm off narcotics in a few more days ( dilaudid, soma, valium).

Probably be swimming laps in four more weeks!

Progress!

Had to swing by the d1ck doc today to get fondled. Still having significant pain and swelling 6-7 weeks out from vasectomy. Working at Gridlife a couple weeks back seemed to really amp it up. Bad enough it wakes me up while sleeping. It's actually worse now than a week after the snip. Swelling is better, but the pain is significant. He said the swelling is more than usual this far out but is probably because I don't sit still. Suggested wearing a jockstrap for a few months. I was worried about infection, but he says it looks fine.

I did finish my sister's deck today. Looks decent. Not nice, but a lot better than what they had. At least there's a landing to stand on when going in and out the door. We'll see if they actually stain n seal it next year like u told them to. Max budget was $1k. I didn't think I could do it for that and told them expect 1500 but I think materials came to about $980. Gotta go through receipts but my brain tally says 980.

I neglected to take before/after photos of the vasectomy. Went from grape balls to baseballs now back to golfballs. Woould've been interesting to follow with data.

But for the deck, if I had a bigger budget, I would've done things a lot differently. She wanted to keep it under 1k. I didn't think I could do it for that, even charging zero for labor. Brother in law is a manager at the local Trek store, he's gonna pay me back with a good deal on a bike. Used or new I don't care, but he's gonna back it up. Anyway. They wanted a landing so it wasn't walk up the stairs to get the handle and open the door and walk down the stairs to get the door open then back up the stairs to get inside.

I think I hit the mark for the job requirements on the head. All function, little form. And I ran through the receipts, I broke just shy of $900 ($898). A lot of corners were cut, but it got done and is significantly better than what I started with.

Morning gentlemen. Headed for the hills after the 5 miler. Our oldest daughter who lives about one hour away from the mountain house will be driving over to join us for dinner. We get to see her only a few times a year anymore since she became a very busy real estate broker.

Mornin Ya'll...

So this roofing company just finished up the neighbor across the streets Roof last week. this roof pitch is a bitch 10/12 pitch 1 1/2 story home. regardless it took this company 2 1/2 weeks from tear off to completion 4 workers plus the **** on his phone and driving off all the time? Now it was a warm week last week with a couple days of rain off and on..
So yesterday morning I'm drinking coffee with the Mrs. as the sun is coming up, I'm looking over at this roof and I'm seeing these shingle have buckled and warped from the elements. (first thing comes to my mind is, this Company used some outdated cheap ass shingles and probably charged these folks a pretty penny on this roof job?? I want to say something to these neighbors, the Mrs. is telling me I'm retired, leave it alone! I'm thinking it's time to sell and move to FL like we planned. I'm just so fed up with seeing **** not built or done correctly anymore. I'm not ready for Winter as my bones are about shot...
Think I'll just roll me up a Fatty and toss a couple brownies and get started with my day.

I've seriously been thinking about it... I've spoken to her (the wife) a few times about neighborhood stuff... but he (husband) is a nerdy Foot Doctor who pays to have his yard work done... IE: kinda unsociable... wish I could post a picture to show justice... but example would be an insurance adjuster after a storm would probably rule these shingles at 80% degraded/damaged... thats the warpage and buckle they show now...

Coffee almost done, we've hit 55 so it is nearly Kuba Time.

Invested an hour in a sit down with two people formerly on my team. One, who's spouse is a cop. The other a woman who is looking to date a guy with a significant record of not playing nice with girls. Think Felonies.

We (spouse of the cop and I) didn't try to sway her one way or another. The only recommendation was she set hard red lines for his behavior and stick to them. If he crosses the line, bugout. We'd rather she not even mess with the dude but... (sigh).

My pool is still open but I can feel the water temp is getting cooler by the day. Prolly got about 3 weeks left for my comfort. When the wife’s family comes from Minnesota they swim in it in the winter months but not me.

Mrs. Beach is a maniac with the heater. Anytime we're somewhere we have control over one, she'll crank it up to 90+. Asks me if I want to swim. I tell her I don't take baths, only showers

I thought I'd posted a reply this morning but doesn't look like it went through.

There are shingles that are designed to do that, curl and warp and be very hodge podge looking, it's to mimic the look of cedar shake. It was an option presented to me when I got my roof replaced. I opted for a more conventional look.
