I didn't know they quit making it and about a month ago wife had it on the shopping list. I went to 3 liquor stores and first two said no we don't carry it. The guy at the 3rd said no they don't make it anymore.

Mornin' dudes. Renting a small uhaul trailer today. Wife found a nice entertainment center for the living room on FB marketplace. Quality sheit for particle board prices! Rich folks wanting to upgrade... fine by me.

Gotta be quick. Pick it up at 1pm, get the stuff at 2pm, and the place closes at 5pm so I have to get the trailer back to them.

Wish me luck... and that I don't throw out my back. lol

Did you leave or sell all your stuff in California,
As to save on moving expenses ?

I know people who have done that.

Did your son stay in California?

Be careful and prepare for that IAN CAT 3 HURRICANE coming to the west coast...go buy a bunch water, canned food, batteries, propane tanks to cook food...good luck..

We donated and sold a lot of stuff, yes.

We have batteries, flashlight, candles, water, I got plenty of beer and whiskey... I'll be fine. Just got a new propane grill yesterday. Made some grilled chicken for dinner.

Welcome to the gulf coast. Keep that $hit stocked at all times. You sure don’t want to go looking for it at the last minute. Keep your vehicles gassed up too. Same reason

Pretty much the same drill as a Cali earthquake. The difference is in an earthquake it lasts two minutes and a hurricane is two days. I had two category 1s have their eye cross directly over my house in 2004.

A good gas generator is a nice to have. I’ve got a John Deere agricultural grade one with a Honda engine. A cheapie Costco one will do fine but burn out under constant usage.

Looked it up. They stopped making it in 2016.

Good Sunday afternoon! It's 89°, higher than the predicted 86° for today, it got down to 64° this morning.

First thing this morning I was helping our older son bleed the brakes on his Cherokee and picking up my new palmetto State Armory Rock 5.7x28 pistol.

Rosh Hashana dinner was good. Brisket was great, roasted potatoes with fried rosemary oil were great, and the apple cake was dyno-mite!

Very very stuffed.

Building has been all consuming.

My responsibilities to this forum have been derelict.
And if that has caused my membership privileges to be suspended, I can understand.

To Deadeye, I began my journey in the Mogollon wilderness of western New Mexico,
and progressed to the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. **** amazing.

And to Eight Track, the road’s been rough, but things are progressing as hoped.

Finally a moment for a puff, a drink, and a moment of enjoyment…

Mornin Ya'll...

Well I'm day 4 of Slamming Tile Flooring down... ram27bat Frying pan

Yes, it started out as Laying tile in a small 7X15 ft. area. piece of cake with 12x24 tiles I was thinking. snapped a few lines squared off the area I went off center of the room and laid the first 8 tiles dry run for the pattern.. wife ok'd the layout.. something came up on day one and we got side tracked so... Day two morning of I start grouting the tile.. FUGG ME!!! I grouted in one tile less in the previous pattern!!! Brick wall Did not catch the mistake until after I got to the wall... DOH!!!

Mrs' says it will be ok because the Fridge, Entertainment Center and Bar area will cover it... BULL****!! d'oh! d'oh!

So yesterday I laid out the remaining tiles in a dry run to see where I can correct the look on the pattern? Today I have to pop up 3 tiles, cut one to 6" and reset and it will all fall into place!! I now recall why I haven't done ceramic tile in 20+ years!!! Herfing I woke up at 4 with this pattern running through my head... LMMFAO!!!

Supposed to be 90+ today with high humidity. Good chance of rain too.

And, then comes the hurricane. Still too far out to know how we are going to hit. Could be anything from windy bands of rain to an absolute soaking. Could lose power for a bit. Totally out of my control....

Seems like everyone in Jax has freaked the hell out. Costco/Sam's Club - no bottled water. At all.

Funny thing is, when I speak to people who have lived here for many years... they're not the least bit worried. My wife's cousin has lived here 50+ years and he shrugs it off. Dude's doing my turf were saying that the geography around here, the way Jax sits on the coast, usually they pass right by.

Neighbor said when he lived here before he lost power once for about 8 hours in the 5+ years he was here that time (Navy guy).

I dunno... but like you, it's out of my control so I ain't worrying about it. I have 2 cases of water, flashlight, candles, beer, bourbon... food.

That’s all those new transplants!

If Costco runs out of toilet paper, there might be a new Covid variant and not the hurricane.

Jax is hard to hit due to the curve of the coastline and the Gulf Stream that sucks hurricanes up towards the Carolinas.

For gulf side hurricanes it all depends on when it makes its turn northeastward and how fast is the forward speed. This one looks to be a big one but it has to cross Florida before it gets to Jax and there’s a lot of pine trees in the way to slow it down.

Hah. Imagine that. Back in 1984 when my company got our bootcamp liberty weekend a few guys decided to shoot flaming shots of Barcardi 151. For some odd reason which I don’t recall I didn’t partake. Anyway one guy managed to splash a flaming shot all over his face. He ended up with a few splotches of third degree burns on his face and was rewarded with 4 extra weeks of bootcamp. Talk about a double Dutch f**k.

Don’t worry. It’ll be what it’ll be. You’re in good shape even if it comes over you. There won’t be a stroke surge as it will cross the west coast and you’re plenty far east of that. Any home there built in the last 40 years have been built to strict storm code. You may have to deal with a power outage. So I’d have at least 2 weeks worth of generator fuel.

If you don’t yet have a generator, should your area lose power your local home improvement stores will bring them in by the truck load, but as soon as you hear they are coming to get in line. If don’t have an installed emergency generator I’d get one. It will run you 8-10k installed.

Got my mower today and a battery powered Ryobi trimmer. 1 set of pruning shears and lopping shears for trimming the branches away from the house. Couple small trees in the front planter. Battery is the same as my drill, so now I have 3 of them... prolly get more Ryobi shit once the garage cabinets and work bench are in.

Already showered after changing the outside spigot valve in the front. Couldn't find the water shutoff valve anywhere...

So got my swim trunks on, took off my shirt, prepped everything and took off the old valve and replaced it with a new one while the water flowed. Only got a little wet. Gonz

Will mow and edge tomorrow. Need to get some more Tenacity. Dude did not take care of this lawn and the weeds are every-damn-where. I'll give it 6 months to a year and if I can't get the damn things eradicated, I'll rip out the turf and put new stuff in.

Many contractors save a couple of dollars by not installing a shutoff valve. You turn off the water at the water meter box. There is usually a 90-degree turn **** valve installed next to the meter. Go to Home Despot or Lowes and buy a Water Key, two Large Cresent wrenches can make do, to turn the valve.
