Round and round he goes
what his track will be- nobody knows!

One model shows it ripping through Tampa, crossing the state through Orlando and then moving off towards Jacksonville.

Out of our control... so I just play watch and see. Meanwhile the turf project is moving along. Ian should take his time, whatever he does... and let the guys finish the job, first. Just need 2 more days... like end of day Wednesday.

Slow ya roll, Ian...

I wish the damn pic post worked around this Joint!

I got a buddy who's a diving instructor and Captain of his own diving boat in Key Largo, (he's the one who married us last June) anyways, he's on my snaps and sends me snap updates from Tavinier Key 3-4 times a day. this morning he had the boat out for one morning dive run and sent snaps as this day progressed. he says 4/5 and 6' caps are rolling in now.. so a one and done day... but the skys down there also look pretty rough!!! Back in June when the wife and I headed down for our Anniversary to Key Largo. he contqacted me a day before we headed out, be4cause at the time a tropical storm was running up through the Keys.. he said might wanna slow our roll and come in on Sunday as it was suppose to pass by then, sure enough it had we only got wet the last 30+ miles from Homestead to Key Largo.. but the ruminants of the storm the entire week were still lingering. took the Bike to South Miami HD for oil change and servicing and we got soaked heading up and back the entire day!!! bbut it was still like 90 degrees so no biggy... LOL

Once I get back to Florida I may get a solar generator. (My gas generator produces more power than the solar panels on my roof!)

No solar panels. No generator.

I'm gonna fly by the seat of my pants for the first go round. Learn some lessons. My buddy's house has some bolts around the windows to put up sheet metal or something. Mine's newer and doesn't have them. d'oh!

Plywood is expensive as sheit... and the house has some fiber cement siding... so it'd be pretty sheitty to nail through it. But it is sturdy as hell.

We have rice, canned food, propane grill with a full tank, dog food, 2 cases of water (Sam's n costco were out or I'd have more) candles, flashlight... beer and booze. Truck won't fit in the garage, so it'll get sacrificed to the hurricane gods.

I remember going to the Florida keys IN 1989? After HURRICANE HUGO 1988?
OR IT WAS IN 92? AFTER ANDREW? IN 1993
DRIVING by homestead, fla...

I looked to the west from I-95 and I saw "mountains/ big ass hills" in the distance...we got closer and it was literally pile of hurricane damage stuff, trees, roofs, shingles, wood, drywall, appliances out the arse and it was about 10+ stories high...
Several of these hills were next to I-95 and they were YUUUUGGGEEE!!

Most recent update:

It moved east overnight and has Orlando in its track as a probable Category 1 by the time it crosses land from Tampa to get to Orlando.

Just praying we don't lose power.

Prayers for those in its direct path..

I've been thru a couple of Florida hurricanes. The last one in 2005 was next to nothing in Orlando. The one way back was in Lauderdale in walking distance from the beach. Power out 3 days and we put up that corrugated metal on almost all the windows. The beach was on the road, but the next day everything was close to normal with a power outage.

That goes for you too Dan - Stay safe.

We should be dry and out of harms way - if any of the BOTL need a place to set while the storm passes.
Beautiful weather today as a cold front pushes south across Alabama and keeps Ian away.

Interesting track change but not good for my brother.

If it comes in below Tampa it’s gonna shove all the water out of the bay like hurricane Charley in 2004. Coming in above Tampa is the killer storm that floods everything.

This is looking a lot like hurricane Charley.

It looks identical but will drop strength quicker. Charley was still a cat 1 the whole way across the state.

I was grilling steaks the afternoon when Charley passed because it moved so quick. Meanwhile Orlando and Daytona were getting pimp slapped.

Venice is nice but it might get leveled. That would suck.

Got 2 more cases of bottled water and 3 gallon jugs of it, too.

Honestly, it doesn't appear as if Jax will get hit that bad by it. If it ends up heading this way it's sposta be a Cat 1 by then. The rain is gonna be an absolute beotch. But it is what it is...

Earthquakes give zero warning. Hurricanes give ya a few days to GTFO.

MACS, if you still need water and can find them, you can buy a bunch of cheapo 2L bottles of soda, dump the soda and fill them with tap water. Usualy H2O bottles get bought up fast, but not the store brand diet Dr Pepper, etc... The bottle is all that matters.

Picture Santa Ana winds and heavy rain all day. (No brushfires though!). You’ve prolly seen stronger winds during a Santa Ana which often are tropical storm force. No dog walking gonna happen. Binge-watch “Better Call Saul”.

Jax really is hard to get hit with hurricanes. The biggest issue is gusts of wind taking out branches into power lines. That can happen across a broad path. If you lose power hurricanes and tropical storms suck real quick.

warning: the following attempts at humor may not be appropriate for cbid adults.

Has anyone thought to buy a black Sharpie and change the hurricane's path?

Maybe think it away?

This is no time to believe in science/meteorology!

State of Emergency? Not taking my freedom mo fo!!!

that's all I got, except I really am very worried for several of our B/SOTL down there, not to mention family and friends in my own life.
Here's hoping this turns out to be a giant MEH, as often happens after fears are ramped up...but it does look bad.

Be safe, not stupid.

Our younger son and his wife stayed for the last hurricane that hit Corpus Cristi. The wind howled, the house rocked and rolled, they lost one window and they swore they would never do that again.

This is no time to believe in science/meteorology! Meteorologists just guess. Only ones that are right consistently are the CA ones... "sunny and warm"... yup.

State of Emergency? Not taking my freedom mo fo!!! Legitimate emergency, as opposed to a manufactured one that turned out to be a MEH (covid?)
