Yeah... the lefties said they were leaving if Trump won and none of them left.

Echo chamber is okay as long as it's your echo?

He ain't driving anyone out. They SAY they're leaving, but they won't.

Twitter has lost a ton of advertisers. Companies like United Airlines, General Motors, REI, General Mills and Audi to name a few. Musk himself has said the company has taken a huge financial hit. In the meantime he's been selling Tesla stock like crazy to help fund the purchase and keep twitter going. Something he said he wouldn't do. Tesla stock has dropped 46% in the last year mainly due to inflation and Elon selling his stock. The first time he sold twitter stock he caused Tesla's valuation to drop by more than 60%. Musk will be fine. His shareholders on the other hand are not happy. No one wanted Musk to buy Twitter. Even Musk tried to get out of the deal. He had to hire back a bunch of people he laid off because it turns out Twitter needs employees that actually know how to keep Twitter running. Personally, Twitter could go away tomorrow and I wouldn't care. It's full of morons of every ilk screaming at each other. But, that's just me. I think social media has done far more harm than good.

I've got to agree with that sentiment. I never had twitter, still don't have a desire to get it.

There should be, but look at all the special needs voters who rode the short bus to the polls.

We may need FEMA to start handing out Denmar helmets to these troglodytes.

"How many years can you claim a business loss on your taxes?
The IRS will only allow you to claim losses on your business for three out of five tax years. If you don't show that your business is starting to make a profit, then the IRS can prohibit you from claiming your business losses on your taxes."

There have to be past or future profits to get the corporate tax benefits...

From reading about the last 7 days news about this new AQUISITION....

I'd venture it was a really really stupid investment...

If you woulda backed me for what uncle Sam stole from me ...about two years ago...I COULDA' returned that investment maybe 5 times over....

Yet, you waste 100's of millions for nothing at a.l.l....

Oh well
Stupid is

It's a legal negotiating tactic. Deny, delay, deny, delay; then pay. Unless Elon can prove gross negligence, immoral behavior that damaged the company or inappropriate self-dealing/stock fraud. I said it before with his earlier lawsuit. The writing was on the wall and Eli paid-up. Courts uphold contracts. Bankruptcies break them.

Pretty sure Musk won't tank as a result of the Twitter takeover. He has a ton of $ to burn. It's just another of his projects that he has going on.

From my limited understanding, he tried to buy up shares to do a hostile takeover to buy it at a set price, then after peaking under the covers (seeing all the fake accounts and bots that have been infiltrated in Twitter) he decided... we'll it's kinda F-ed up so I want out (a poker bluff).

Then the board of directors at Twitter saw the writing on the wall and instituted a poison pill but in the end Musk ended up buying it for like $45 billion. He de-listed it off of the stock exchange and made it a private company. Then kicked most of the upper management and a bunch of deadwood in the company in a first move to try to turn it around and mold it to how he want's it to run. It's now a private company so he has the authority to do with it as he sees fit. If you don't like it, then cancel your Twitter account (I don't have one nor have an urge to establish one).

It may fail or it may succeed. Either way it doesn't impact me. I do find it interesting that all the hub bub of Musk taking it over and seeing a bunch of cancel culture rats jumping ship because their their social platform and soap box has changed hands.

The poison pill defense is why Musk paid $50+ per share instead of much less- after he stupidly entered into a contract without due dilligence. That is 100% on him. As a result, he had to pay more to get the board of directors' aproval, whuch maximized shareholder return.
