WHY do some people think bidding for a whole lot of 20 units is OK when others are also trying to bid ?? Just because you can doesn't mean you should !

As Jonesy so eloquently said, it’s been a bidding strategy for a few years now. Heck, I’ll admit it, I’ve used that bid-on-everything-at-$1.00 method a few times too. When done correctly it’s a great way to win a few smokes at, sometimes, very low prices. Face it, this is an online, somewhat anonymous auction site that doesn’t care who wins or for how much. For every “I won a 5er for $1.00” story, I bet there’s 10 of the same auctions in which the winning bidder paid more than what they could have bought from the non-auction sister site.

I fail to see why it matters how many units people bid on. Just bid on the number of units you want and outbid them. Unless, of course, they're bidding higher than you're willing to go, in which case, welcome to the auction. I've seen some stuff on here lately that been bid-up to stupid prices.

However, you can still get good stuff if you're patient. I've been watching some of the Tat Caballero bids this week, and 5 packs are hovering around $26(ish). Sometimes over $30. That's high to me. I bid on a couple at $15, and lost, lost, lost.

Bids on singles have been going about the same, saw some for $6 per cigar. I bid on an entire lot of 10 singles at $3 each, hoping to win a couple, no skin lost if I don't. I won 9 at $3 each, which was my max for a 5ver. If someone else wanted one for $4, they could have bought it.

Maybe I shouldn't say this, but I really didn't want 9 of them. I don't have anywhere to put them. But, it's a nice problem to have.

I give bidding advice for a nickel per question. Can't beat that. You owe me a nickel.

Settle down noob.
One more outburst like that, and you won’t win any bids at all……………except your Gurkha bids.
If you behave, you might win some Gurks at below MSRP.

Perhaps Tommy Boy spotted the EBAY resellers bidding on large lots of lighters and accessories. My solution is to bid them up a bit and make it less profitable. But auctions are what they are and their rules are their rules, and if you don't like it, don't go there. And if you still do, go somewhere else and whine there.
