I don't watch soccer...

If I wanted to watch somebody struggle to score for 90 minutes, I'd take my friends out to the bar.

* I don't want much of any TV sports.

Even when I played in an adult soccer league and was “into” the sport, I would often times nod off while watching TV highlights of English Premier League. For sure soccer is best watched in-person.

Never been a soccer fan...

I'd much rather watch hockey, baseball, football or golf...

Soccer is boring as hell...

Watching golf is infuriating. Stupid people hitting it perfectly almost every time, landing on the green from half a mile away, and then the ball spins even closer to the hole than where they landed, and just making it all look so dam easy

Buncha bastids, I tell ya!

Oh yeah, soccer. I don't watch it too much

Love soccer. My addiction.
Bourbon and cigars are not far behind, but- soccer is it.

I understand the haters. Use to be one. It would help if the USA Men's team was better and the MLS wasn't a totally awful product. The USMT is getting better.

Seven or so months away from the Women's World Cup. More people watch that as the USA have won the cup. They are excellent.

Any idea why the men aren’t Better? I realize they played well this year but this is Merica damnit. I expect us to win.

Honestly I’m not too into soccer I never played it. I played basically every other sport. Cept hockey. We didn’t have an ice center. Have one now but I think that’s behind me. 😂. I actually don’t fully understand soccer.

I love major soccer matches. It stems from the decade or more my son played as a kid and how he taught me what a match is all about. So, I get it and a good game is not boring to me.

Americans grow up to throw, catch, shoot, swing a bat, not kick a ball with your instep (…”instep”? Where is that?…) or dribble a ball (…with your FEET?!?!…) around the coffee table. And then there’s the money aspect. I don’t know how much someone like Christian Pulisic makes but I imagine it pails in comparison to what the top basketball, football and baseball players make. So if you’re a good sized kid with great speed / hands / eye-hand coordination with major next-level potential, what sport would you choose?

Soccer sized folk don’t often fair well at football. Kickers do obviously
Basketball requires great height to play for money
So that leaves baseball and soccer. I played baseball but I don’t think I had the cardio for soccer but I may have if I tryed.

I wonder if it’s just a culture thing. Soccer is becoming wildly popular now days with the younger generation. I wonder if that will translate to professional levels in years to come?

This has me perplexed. As the most popular sport in the world. Our ladies are very good soccer players.

Title IX opened up a lot of opportunities for females. Prior to that there weren’t too many sports for girls. I think maybe other countries don’t provide the same chances?

Not enough of them play against the best in the world on a regular basis. The American soccer league (MLS) is maybe the 9th or 10th best league in the world. In past years, the USA team had maybe three starters from the European leagues. Now there are five or six. They are in the ascendency.

Four years from now, they could conceivably make it to the quarterfinals.

As long as they qualify. They'll be fine unless they end up playing a real world beater, like Trinidad & Tobago.
