Damn, that sounds good.

Gonna do a batch of chili and some chicken broccoli alfredo in the crockpots today for a fundraiser/craft show tomorrow. I can't attend but signed up to make some food. Figure a couple crockpot meals for those working it and some cash would suffice (I'll siphon a couple servings of chili and alfredo for myself though).

If and when the zombie apocalypse happens, oatmeal might be a necessary food source. I don't think zombies like oatmeal either.

Then again, I don't know how to grow oatmeal so I'm kinda screwed there. Where do you buy oatmeal seeds?

Happy Saturday ya'll.

Looks like a nice day to tear into the side gate. The wood slats are old and warped so imma going to replace them with polywood if I can find it. I think the hardest part is going to be removing about 20 old bolts holding the slats as they have been painted over and rusted. Might have to grind them off. Then the steel frame which is also painted and chipped needs to be sanded and repainted along with the steel surround attached to the concrete block fence.

Or maybe I'll just have a cigar and think about this some more.

Thinking is good. Don't want to have any regrets about the eventual plan of action.

Sprinkle it with some gas or lighter fluid or some other fuel to to it going. Purge it with fire down to the frame while you smoke a cigar.

Topping off the tires on the agenda.

Coffee with my wife while watch an episode of Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In. I get the feeling that not everyone on that show was completely sober.

I will take that into consideration while enjoying this cigar. Other factors:
Do I have the proper tools?
Do I have enough time?
Do I have a source for the replacements?
Can the replacements be precut to my specifications?
Should I use a wire brush to clean the rust and chipped areas before repainting?
Should I stop and talk to the neighbor with the big rack when she comes by walking her dog?

Which cigar should I pick for this contemplation?

Am on oatmeal a couple days a week. Quaker Minute Oats better than the whole oats. 1/2 cup of them, and about the same amount of a somewhat healthy apple and cinnamon make for a healthy and semisweet taste.

This, but using whole oats. Wife makes a big batch on Sunday. Just toss it in the microwave, add almond milk, blueberries and cinnamon. Good and filling

Visiting my mom, her oatmeal lacks....d'oh!

I dare say, and some may consider this blasphemy, that pork belly burnt ends are better than brisket burnt ends. OhMyGod

This is how I do them:

Buy a pork belly at Sam's or Costco.
Cut it up into 2" cubes.
Dust those cubes with your favorite rub.
Smoke them at 225-250 for 2 hours or so.
Rub with a little BBQ sauce and cook in a covered aluminum pan for an hour.
Remove from pan for another hour on the smoker to crisp up.

Done Drool

There comes a moment in a person’s life when they’re contemplating projects such as these to ask themselves, “Do I have more money than time or more time than money?” Think

Depending on the answer, you’ll either spend the 8 to 16 hours doing the job yourself or hiring someone to do it instead.

Choose wisely my friend. Herfing

Went bowling. 2 games with wife and boy. Used to be a $20 winter activity. Today? $60.

$60 for 40 minutes of entertainment. Not a worthwhile use of my money.

Went to the Humane Society and pet some puppy dogs and a couple cats. Not many animals there, usually they're stuffed.

Was gonna go out for pizza afterward but there was a 30-40 minute wait so I'll just call the order in later and eat it at home.

Took us an hour to get home from Humane Society too, 9 miles from home. So much traffic.

Inflation, the economy, and ridiculously high flight costs are conspiring against us. Got to pay the bills before we can enjoy the thrills.

Yeah, got “The Look” when I rolled that idea out.
Was slightly less silly than paying an Uber driver.
We’ll get there. Just not as quickly as any of us would like.

You are wise beyond your years my friend.

While contemplating the project and having my cigar I was innocently scrolling the phone and found a company named Sunset Gates. A very nice lady there named Dawn seemed eager to help me in this project. She suggested she send a nice fellow named James out on Monday who will happily take exact measurements and even bring samples of materials and finishes.

While I did not quite finish the gate project yesterday as planned, I feel I did make some good progress towards it's eventual resolution.

Lazy day today.

Falling asleep on the couch at 9 last night so I just went to bed. Slept solidly till 0730.

Ate leftover pizza and iced tea for breffist.

Already parked my butt on the couch recliner. Probably take a nap sooner or later.
