Lots said about this on the news lately. What are your reasons to be FOR or AGAINST it? First, some facts: It does not deter crime. It does not save money due to the number of appeals. It typically does not satisfy the revenge factor for the victims family. There is a strong argument that the 8th amendment doesn't even allow it. So, are you for or against it?

In order:

1. This is the most grave decision that can be made regarding humans.

I don't trust any idividual, committee or the govt to make those kinds of decisions.

2. It is a commandment, and I beleive a moral imperative: Thou shall not kill.

Also, the reasons stated above support this as well. Human life cannot be measured by a dollar value. I do not beleive that one person or a commitee should have the determination over a persons life or death. I do not think the value of a person to society should determine their right to live...A person may have devine plans even in a jail cell.
A particular society should not be the determination of an individuals value. Also, because an individual is useless or dangerous to a society does not mean that individual is without value. Life is priceless and precious.

Come on Bill! You "bleed" for the most worthless of killers and this guy felt it was his "duty" to execute 168 people in Oklahoma City. Get off the liberal left, bleeding heart bandwagon for a change! If I had my way he would still be alive, but locked in a cage with about enough space to crawl around in but not stand up! There he would stay until death with no TV, no radio, no books, no lights and minimal food and water. To suffer and think about the "collateral damage" and all the people he killed! Charlie

Unclebill, thank you very much for responding. This has got to go to the top of the all-time hypocritical list. You are somehow simultaneously FOR the right to kill an innocent unborn child, and AGAINST the pain-free elimination of proven capital offenders. Would you be in favor of it if the Liberal Media called it a "choice"? How about if a wealthy republican had to fund the event through higher taxes? Perhaps your boy should have pardoned him before he slithered out of 1600 Penn Ave. So you think that this recently deceased piece of **** may have greater "devine plans" than a fresh, new baby? Just for the record, let me get this straight: Unborn child = OK to kill. Confessed Mass murderer = not OK to kill. Did I miss something?

On a seperate train of thought, I heard one of the Victims family members make the most valid reason to kill McVeigh: There will never be another way in which he can hurt these poor folks. He will never be eligible for a parole hearing due to some loophole. He can never make a statement calling the murdered children "collateral damages". He will never give his side of the story to some Liberal Movie maker or Book company. He can do no more harm to the real victims here. To deny them that peace of mind is SELFISH.

Way to go Joe, you sure netted out the reasoning behind what Bill really stands for! Let the liberal left endorse it and Bill will swear it is just and true! I cannot believe someone so adamatly opposed to death penality can be for late term abortions! And your reference to our President slithering his way out of office was also correct, as nobody would come up with his price to set Tim McVeigh free saying, "He was misguided and we think he will serve a better good someday!". Rehabilitation through elimnation should be the theme! Charlie

How can you believe in a higher power to the point that you believe in devinity, yet not in life in the womb? To suggest that a proven killer is more important that an unborn life-to-be is shortsighted and misguided. And I'm being nice...
